The Solomon Islands Rangers Association described the week as both tiring and rewarding, marked by the successful completion of a national capacity-building workshop for rangers and community leaders.

The training brought together 40 participants from across the country, covering Ridge to Reef conservation areas, and focused on environmental laws, resource management, and collaboration with government agencies.

Participants shared real experiences and challenges while strengthening their ability to report and manage environmental issues affecting communities and natural resources.

The association acknowledged the strong support from partners and stakeholders, including government agencies and international organizations, and expressed gratitude to all contributors.

The message concluded with appreciation for participants’ commitment and a call for rest after the intensive but meaningful week.

Representative; Mrs. Rachael Keoka

Youths and elders worked together to renovate the Poana Transport slipway.

Transport is a vital service for rural communities, especially for women and girls who rely on it to access markets as vendors and support their families’ basic needs.

This effort reflects the strength of the community coming together and working collectively for a common good.

First-Ever Congregation 1 Leaders Meeting – Java Circuit
The first-ever Congregation 1 Leaders Meeting of the Java Circuit was successfully held at Valapata Community, marking a significant milestone in strengthening leadership collaboration within the circuit.

Congregation 1 comprises the communities of:

Baresama
Valapata
Pusiju
Lambu Lambu

This historic gathering brought together leaders from across these communities, fostering unity, shared vision, and collective responsibility in serving the people.

A key highlight of the meeting was the United Church of Solomon Islands’ integration of traditional governance into church leadership discussions. This initiative aims to harmonize both religious and traditional leadership structures, creating a unified approach to community development, spiritual growth, and social well-being.

By aligning these leadership systems, the Church seeks to strengthen cooperation, enhance decision-making, and ensure that all leaders work together toward a common purpose: serving and uplifting the people.

Scaling Out to the Central Seascape Program (WWF Pacific – Solomon Islands)

Kudos to the Financial Inclusion team, together with SVTA Female Community Facilitator, Keith Tovakera, for their support in implementing activities in one community in Central Province and another in Guadalcanal Province.

This initiative provides a valuable opportunity for our rural women to share their experiences and stories with the newly established savings clubs, strengthening financial inclusion and community resilience.

After a long day of workshop sessions, Mr. Josuah Bukiri brought in the perfect song at just the right moment.

The “Hallelujah” song was highly engaging and uplifting—it re-energized participants and helped them stay focused and involved for the next couple of hours of the workshop.
