Dr. Morteza Dejam is an Associate Professor of Energy and Petroleum Engineering, Computing, and Hydrologic Science at the University of Wyoming and an Associate Editor for Water Resources Research and Journal of Hydrology. He obtained his Ph.D., M.Sc., and B.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary, Sharif University of Technology, and Petroleum University of Technology in 2016, 2009, and 2007, respectively. His research area is transport phenomena and thermodynamics of fluids in porous media, focusing on solute dispersion, phase behavior of nanoconfined fluids, geological storage, geothermal energy, enhanced oil recovery, fluid flow in shale rocks, and block-to-block interaction in fractured porous media.

Dr. Khalid Hazazi works as a research and development engineer at Saudi Aramco’s EXPEC ARC. He received his B.Sc. degree in chemical engineering from Laurentian University, Canada, in 2016. He obtained his M.S. and Ph.D. in chemical engineering from KAUST in 2018 and 2022, respectively. He published multiple peer-reviewed papers in high-impact journals including Journal of Membrane Science, ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, Small Structures and Nature Materials. His research interests are focused on developing sustainable and low-carbon hydrogen energy sources to meet the ambitious plan of net zero.

Our officers, Fawaz Al-Boghail, María Ardila-Sanchez, Abdirizak Omar, Billal Aslam, and Martin H., had the opportunity to explore 's advanced oil and gas facilities, marvel at the stunning desert landscapes, and experience the Shaybah Wildlife Sanctuary. 🏜️🌿

Tad Patzek is Professor of Energy Resources and Petroleum Engineering Division at KAUST. Between 1990 and 2014, He was a Professor of Geoengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, and Chairman of the Ptroleum and Geosystems Engineering Department at the University of Texas, Austin. Prior to joining Berkeley, He was a researcher at Shell Development. Patzek's research focuses on fluid dynamics in soils and rocks, global sustainability issues, and the ecology of human survival. He is particularly interested in the potential of unconventional hydrocarbons and carbonate reservoirs.
