⚡ ECCKSA Energy Committee: from dialogue to action in Saudi Arabia’s energy sector

On 27 September, the ECCKSA Energy Committee met in Riyadh for a productive discussion on priorities for European companies active in Saudi Arabia’s energy sector.

The meeting brought together members representing the full breadth of the sector, from power developers and industrial engineering to energy services, electrical equipment, water and energy, and digital solutions. Together, they revisited the themes raised with DG ENER in May and identified where the Committee can add most value in the months ahead.

Key topics discussed:
- Energy diversification and energy security
- Electrification and energy efficiency
- Data centres and AI-driven demand
- Localisation and talent
- Outlook beyond 2030

Working groups will now explore these topics in greater depth ahead of the next Committee meeting on 8 November.

🤝 Road to the EU-GCC Business Forum – Business Consultation Breakfast at the ECCKSA Offices

On 28 September 2026, the European Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ECCKSA), in collaboration with the EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification II Project, hosted a business consultation breakfast at its offices in Riyadh. Held in preparation for the 10th EU-GCC Business Forum, the event brought together ECCKSA members to discuss priorities and opportunities for strengthening economic cooperation between the European Union and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

ECCKSA was pleased to welcome Mr Timo Hammarén, Minister-Counsellor and Head of Trade at the EU Delegation, and Dr Rade Glomazic, Team Leader of the EU-GCC Dialogue on Economic Diversification II Project. They shared perspectives on the forthcoming Forum and opportunities for business engagement, contributing to a substantive dialogue on how the Forum can address private-sector priorities and support closer economic ties.

💬 The consultation gathered business perspectives to inform the Forum’s preparations and explored opportunities for companies to contribute through speaking engagements, business showroom participation, and B2B and G2B meetings. Exchanges also highlighted the value of European business partnerships, concrete policy recommendations and sustained follow-up beyond the Forum.

ECCKSA thanks all speakers and participants for their contributions. The Chamber remains committed to facilitating constructive dialogue between the private sector and institutional partners in support of closer EU-Saudi Arabia economic relations.

🇪🇺🇸🇦 ECCKSA Welcomes EUSR for the Gulf Region H.E. Luigi Di Maio in Riyadh

On Sunday, 13 September, ECCKSA was delighted to welcome H.E. Luigi Di Maio, EU Special Representative for the Gulf Region, alongside H.E. Christophe Farnaud, Ambassador of the European Union to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The visit began with a meeting with the ECCKSA Board of Directors, followed by a reception and exchange with ECCKSA Members.

As relations between the European Union, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Saudi Arabia continue to deepen, such engagements provide ECCKSA members with a valuable opportunity to connect directly with senior EU Commission representatives, gain insight into the EU’s priorities and ongoing work at the political level, and exchange perspectives on the evolving EU-Saudi relationship.

ECCKSA remains committed to strengthening EU-Saudi economic ties and fostering meaningful dialogue between the European business community in the Kingdom and European institutional stakeholders.

🏥 ECCKSA members discuss priorities for the healthcare sector

On 2 September, the European Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ECCKSA) brought together representatives of member companies active in the healthcare sector at its offices in Riyadh.

The meeting provided an opportunity for members to exchange perspectives on the continued development of Saudi Arabia’s healthcare landscape, discuss key sector priorities, and explore opportunities for greater collaboration and engagement going forward.

Discussions focused on shaping a roadmap for future healthcare-focused engagements, identifying areas of common interest, and strengthening dialogue between European businesses and relevant stakeholders in the Kingdom.

As Saudi Arabia continues its ambitious healthcare transformation under Vision 2030, ECCKSA provides a valuable platform for European companies to exchange knowledge, share experience and contribute constructively to discussions around the development of the Kingdom’s healthcare ecosystem.

The meeting marks an important step in developing this platform and establishing a clear direction for future engagements in the healthcare sector.

🤖 ECCKSA members at LEAP 2026

The European Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ECCKSA) was pleased to attend LEAP 2026 in Riyadh on Tuesday, 1 September. As one of the world’s leading technology gatherings, LEAP provides an important platform for dialogue, innovation and international collaboration. Its fifth edition once again offered an impressive view of the progress shaping the Kingdom’s digital landscape.

During the event, ECCKSA met with its members, accompanied by Timo Hammarén, Head of Trade at the Delegation of the European Union to Saudi Arabia. Together, they met with Hakan Cervell, President of Ericsson Saudi Arabia; Mohammed Khlaif, Head of Mission Critical, Enterprise and Growth at Nokia Saudi Arabia; and Mustafa Zibage, Business Development Director at SLB.

These valuable exchanges provided an opportunity to discuss the rapid development of Saudi Arabia’s technology sector and the opportunities emerging across ICT, artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, advanced connectivity and industrial transformation.

European companies have an important role to play in supporting the Kingdom’s ambitions by contributing cutting-edge solutions, international expertise, research and development capabilities, skills development and sustainable approaches tailored to the Saudi market.

In response to the sector’s growth, ECCKSA plans to establish a dedicated ICT, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Committee. It will provide a platform for members to exchange expertise, identify shared priorities and develop practical initiatives supporting Saudi Arabia’s digital transformation and Vision 2030 objectives.

ECCKSA looks forward to continuing these conversations and strengthening cooperation between the European and Saudi business communities.

🇪🇺🇸🇦 Growing Momentum of EU-Saudi Economic Relations Highlighted in an Interview with Asharq Al-Awsat

The European Chamber of Commerce in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (ECCKSA) is pleased to share an exclusive interview with Kristijonas Gedvilas, CEO of ECCKSA, published in Asharq Al-Awsat.

As ECCKSA marks two years of activity in the Kingdom, the interview reflects on the Chamber’s journey to date, from strengthening its sectoral committees and welcoming a new Board of Directors to inaugurating its new Riyadh office earlier this year, while continuing to deepen ties across the EU-Saudi economic corridor.

📊 The interview also highlights the strong momentum of EU-Saudi economic relations and the growing presence of European businesses in the Kingdom. In 2025, EU-Saudi trade in goods and services reached €88.8 billion, with EU exports growing at an average annual rate of 11% since 2021. The EU also remains the Kingdom’s largest foreign investor, accounting for 29% of total FDI stock, underlining the strength and long-term nature of this partnership.

As the unified voice of European business in Saudi Arabia, ECCKSA remains committed to strengthening bilateral trade and investment, fostering constructive dialogue between European businesses and Saudi entities, and supporting an enabling environment for sustainable economic cooperation in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

🇪🇺🇸🇦 ECCKSA Welcomes European Parliament Delegation

On Sunday 19 July, ECCKSA had the pleasure of hosting a high-level meeting with the EU Delegation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, bringing together Members of the European Parliament and a group of ECCKSA members, on the margins of the 18th EU-Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Interparliamentary Meeting held in Riyadh and Jeddah.

The discussion provided a constructive platform to exchange views on the activity of European businesses in Saudi Arabia, and on the opportunities to further strengthen the EU-Saudi relationship.

We were pleased to welcome the following Members of the European Parliament:
