“An Islamic Consensus Guiding Toward the Straight Path”

As part of a comprehensive Islamic initiative, the Muslim World League (MWL), in partnership with the Center for Safeguarding Intellect, has presented—through the Encyclopedia of Islamic Intellectual Consensus—an educational and intellectual framework that revisits the history of Islamic solidarity with an enlightened and scholarly perspective. Rooted in shared values and foundational principles, this framework promotes balanced discourse that reinforces unity while respecting diversity, and addresses the underlying causes of conflict and division through a responsible, knowledge-based approach.

Launched on 8 March 2025 (corresponding to 8 Ramadan 1446 AH), the Encyclopedia represents a key outcome of the second edition of the “Building Bridges Between Islamic Schools of Thought and Sects” Conference. The conference was held under the generous patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah protect him), and witnessed wide participation from representatives of Islamic schools of thought across more than 90 countries.

This initiative reflects the Muslim World League’s ongoing efforts to deepen Sharia-based awareness and to strengthen bridges of effective dialogue and constructive cooperation among the diverse components of the Ummah. Through a comprehensive and unifying Islamic framework, it contributes to guiding collective Islamic action toward sound understanding, moderation, and the straight path.

The Muslim World League Renews Its Call for a Serious and Responsible Response to Ongoing Violations of the Gaza Ceasefire

Makkah:
The Muslim World League (MWL) has renewed its call for a serious and responsible international response to the continued violations of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, which have resulted in grave civilian casualties, leaving large numbers of Palestinians killed and injured.

In a statement issued by the MWL’s General Secretariat, His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, underscored the urgent need to ensure full adherence to the obligations set out in the second phase of the American peace plan. He emphasized, in particular, the necessity of an immediate and comprehensive cessation of hostilities, as well as the unimpeded entry of humanitarian assistance to meet the severe needs of the civilian population in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In this context, His Excellency expressed strong appreciation for the joint statement issued by the foreign ministers of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and a number of Islamic and Arab countries, which firmly condemned the repeated violations of the ceasefire in Gaza. The statement also warned of the serious escalation posed by these actions, noting their potential to exacerbate tensions and undermine regional and international efforts aimed at advancing the implementation of the second phase of the peace plan and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803. His Excellency stressed that meaningful progress toward ending cycles of violence and conflict requires sustained commitment to international legitimacy, paving the way for a lasting, comprehensive, and just peace, in accordance with relevant international resolutions and the New York Declaration for a Two-State Solution.

On 5 October 2023 (20 Rabi’ al-Awwal 1445 AH), in Nouakchott, the capital of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, and under the patronage of His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani, the Nouakchott Declaration was issued by the Conference on the Prophet’s Biography.

The Declaration underscored the importance of confronting extremist ideologies, which constitute a primary source of conflict and division—particularly through the spread of hatred and racism—and the resulting violence and terrorism. It affirmed that such phenomena are not attributable to any specific religion, sect, ideology, or group.

The Declaration called upon the Muslim Ummah to draw upon the noble values of its great religion to strengthen unity and fraternity, and to contribute positively to other peoples and nations, affirming that Islam, with its monotheistic creed and wise laws, is “a mercy to all mankind,” “the perfection of noble character,” and that “the most beloved of people to Allah are those who are most beneficial to others.”

It emphasized that Islam established a robust framework for coexistence, brotherhood, harmony, tolerance, the safeguarding of human dignity, and the protection of human rights—without discrimination on the basis of religion, sect, race, or any other consideration. Justice, by its very nature, is comprehensive, and its standards are indivisible.

The Declaration further stressed the necessity of correcting misconceptions about Islam, exposing the falsehoods of those who distort and misrepresent its teachings, and clarifying the deviation of those who have genuinely embraced extremist ideologies.

The Nouakchott Declaration represents a key outcome of the Muslim World League’s efforts to implement the provisions of the , whose historic international conference was held under the patronage of the , King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud (may Allah protect him). The Charter was endorsed by more than 1,200 muftis and scholars and over 4,500 Islamic intellectuals, and was adopted by the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for application within their religious, cultural, and educational institutions. It has since been incorporated into curricula and programs in several Muslim-majority countries, as well as countries with Muslim minorities, and is referenced across a range of educational frameworks.
