People are now throwing my own free speech position at me, saying: “Free speech includes the freedom to offend. BJP got offended, so Arif took a U-turn.”

That is a loaded and dishonest framing.

This is not about BJP being offended. I don’t care about that.
This is not about protecting any party from criticism.

But I do care about my country, its stability, and its future.
I love my country as my home.

Even if I were CPIM, Congress, or politically neutral, I would take the same stand.

Because the issue here is not offence.
The issue is engineered chaos.

Your inability to identify the real issue is not my responsibility.
My responsibility is to my convictions and my words.

In the manifesto of CJP, they state:

“All media houses owned by Ambani and Adani shall have their licenses cancelled to make way for truly independent media. Bank accounts of Godi media anchors shall be investigated.”

This is the faultline that exposes CJP’s true colours.

On one hand, they cry about BJP allegedly misusing ED, CBI and NIA against political opponents, which I also oppose.

But on the other hand, in their own manifesto, they openly propose the same model of state coercion against media houses they dislike - licence cancellation, bank-account investigations, and institutional punishment.

That is not reform.
That is repackaged hypocrisy.

So the problem was never “misuse of power.”
The problem was who controls the power.

This is not free speech.
This is not media reform.
This is “Godi media” rhetoric repackaged as authoritarian revenge politics.

And when exposed, they call it “BJP got offended.”
And when criticised, they say, “Arif took a U-turn.”

How convenient. The blue fox has hooted, and now it wants us to believe it is still a forest saint.

I have just started reading The Liver Doctor by Dr. Cyriac Abby Philips.

In one sense, I was a close witness to the birth of this book.

We worked in the same office, and I still remember him sharing every development with excitement, the story series on Twitter, the moment HarperCollins offered him the book deal, the thrill of seeing the project take shape, the pressure of deadlines, the days he took leave from office just to complete the manuscript on time, and even the joy of seeing the graphics drawn by an excellent artist.

I had even read a few portions before publication.

So when I finally held the book in my hands, as a very special gift from him, with a deeply personal note that I do not wish to share publicly, I thought I already knew what this book was.

But I was wrong.

Do not let the title deceive you.

A book written by a doctor, carrying the title “The Liver Doctor”, may make you think this is a strictly medical book, packed with clinical information, explanations and professional seriousness.

It is not.

This is, above everything else, a human story told in a clinical setting.

It is storytelling at its finest, filled with emotion, memory, conflict, uncertainty, science and compassion. The medical information does not stand outside the story like a lecture. It breathes inside it.

That is why this book is not meant only for doctors or medical students.…

മാറാട്: കേരളം മറക്കാൻ ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്ന മുറിവ്

ചിലർക്ക് അതൊരു മാപ്പിലെ പേരാണ്.
മറ്റുചിലർക്ക് പഴയൊരു പത്രവാർത്ത.
എന്നാൽ കേരളത്തിന് മാറാട് അതൊന്നുമല്ല; അത് നമ്മുടെ പൊതുമനസ്സിൽ (collective conscience) ഇന്നും ഉണങ്ങാത്ത, നീറുന്ന ഒരു മുറിവാണ്.

മറ്റു പല ദേശീയ ദുരന്തങ്ങളെല്ലാം നമ്മുടെ ‘ദേശീയ സ്മൃതിയിൽ’ (national memory) ഇടംപിടിക്കുമ്പോൾ, മാറാടിനെ നാം നിശബ്ദതയുടെ കരിമ്പടം പുതപ്പിച്ച് (uncomfortable silence) വിസ്മൃതിയിലേക്ക് തള്ളാൻ ശ്രമിച്ചു. ആ ക്രൂരമായ വിസ്മൃതിയാണ് ഇന്ന് ഈ പേര് വീണ്ടും ഓർക്കാൻ നമ്മെ നിർബന്ധിക്കുന്നത്.

മാറാട് ഓർക്കുന്നത് വെറുപ്പ് വളർത്താനല്ല; നമ്മുടെ വാളുകൾക്ക് മൂർച്ചകൂട്ടാനോ പുതിയൊരു പ്രതികാരത്തിനുള്ള മണ്ണൊരുക്കാനോ അല്ല. നമ്മൾ ഓർക്കുന്നത് മറക്കുന്നത് സത്യത്തെ ഒറ്റിക്കൊടുക്കലാവുന്നത് കൊണ്ടാണ്. ‘മതഭ്രാന്ത്’ (religious fanaticism) എന്ന പാറപ്പുറത്ത് മനുഷ്യത്വം എങ്ങനെയൊക്കെ തകർന്നു വീഴാം എന്നതിന്റെ ഭയാനകമായ ഒരു മുന്നറിയിപ്പായി മാറാട് നിൽക്കുന്നു.

വിശ്വാസം എങ്ങനെ ‘മതാന്ധമായ വെറുപ്പിലേക്ക്’ (fanatical hatred) വഴിമാറുമെന്ന് മാറാട് നമുക്ക് കാട്ടിത്തന്നു. മതഭ്രാന്ത് എന്നത് വെറും ഒരു കിതാബ് സിദ്ധാന്തമല്ല; അതൊരു അയൽക്കാരന്റെ കൈയ്യിൽ മറ്റൊരു അയൽക്കാരനെ കൊലപ്പെടുത്താനുള്ള ആയുധം നൽകുന്ന ശക്തിയാണെന്ന് നാം അവിടെ പഠിച്ചു. ഈ വിഷം പടർന്നാൽ അതൊരു സമൂഹത്തിൽ ഉണ്ടാക്കുന്ന മുറിവുകൾ ഒരിക്കലും ഉണങ്ങിയെന്ന് വരില്ല.

പക്ഷേ, ഈ ഓർമ്മ ഒരിക്കലും ഒരു സമൂഹത്തെ മുഴുവൻ കുറ്റവാളികളാക്കുന്ന ‘കൂട്ടായ കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തലിന്’ (collective blame) ഉപയോഗിക്കരുത്. അതൊരിക്കലും നീതിയല്ല; അത് ആ അക്രമത്തിന് കാരണമായ അതേ ചിന്താഗതിയെ താലോലിക്കലാണ്. അതേസമയം, ആ അക്രമത്തിന് പിന്നിലെ കടുത്ത ആശയധാരയെ മറച്ചുവെക്കാനോ ലഘൂകരിക്കാനോ നാം തുനിയരുത്. അത് ഒരുപോലെ ഉത്തരവാദിത്തം മറക്കലാണ്. ഗുജറാത്ത് കലാപത്തെ സംഘപരിവാർ കലാപം ആയി വിളിക്കാൻ ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടില്ല എങ്കിൽ, മാറാടിനെ ഇസ്ലാമിക തീവ്രവാദമായി വിളിക്കാൻ എന്തിനാണ് ബുദ്ധിമുട്ട്?

ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്… ട്ടോ..!

“താങ്കൾക്കിത് അറിയാമല്ലോ” എന്ന ചോദ്യരൂപത്തിലുള്ള വിധിപ്രസ്താവം.

“താങ്കളുടെ കണ്ടൻ്റ് സാധാരണക്കാരെ അരക്ഷിതാവസ്ഥയിലാക്കുന്നു” എന്ന ആ സ്ഥിരം പല്ലവി (heckler’s veto).

ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്… ട്ടോ..!

പിന്നെ ആ തീപ്പെട്ടി മെറ്റഫർ. എന്തിനും ഏതിനും “കോൺടെക്സ്റ്റ് വേണം” എന്ന വാദവും, പതിമൂന്ന് നൂറ്റാണ്ടായി ആ വാക്യത്തിന് നിലവിലുള്ള അർത്ഥം തെറ്റാണെന്ന കണ്ടെത്തലും തമ്മിലുള്ള ആ ഒളിച്ചുകളി.

ഒന്ന് പറയാം. താങ്കളുടെ വീഡിയോ നല്ല ഒന്നാന്തരം ഗ്യാസ്‌ലൈറ്റിംഗ് ആണ്. ഈ മേഖലയിലെ പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ന്യായീകരണ തൊഴിലാളികൾ വർഷങ്ങളായി കളിക്കുന്ന അതേ മദ്രസ്സകളി. ജിഹാദി കൂട്ടിക്കൊടുപ്പ് കളി..!

എല്ലാം ശ്രദ്ധയിൽ പെട്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്… ട്ടോ..!

Quran 9:5 is not “just misunderstood.”
It has historical context, yes, but that context is post-conquest religious-political domination, not a harmless defensive footnote.

The jihadist is not always inventing things from thin air. He stands on a chain: Quran, tafsir, hadith, abrogation doctrine, early Islamic precedent, modern caliphate propaganda.

The woke-apologist mistake is pretending that chain does not exist. That does not defeat jihadism. It makes jihadists look more honest than the people trying to deny the problem.

Expose the chain. Challenge the chain. Break the chain.
