We believe that there is a treasure in every child, and that childhood itself is a tresure to protect and foster for the growth of a sound and capable adult, able to face the challenges of life with proper skills. We also believe in education as the mean to extract and grow the treasure in each person.
We work daily to ensure even the poorest children a happy childhood, love and education, for them to start their journey in life well equipped to have dreams and realize them.
Nsinda Ikirezi Pre-School is currently the only affordable nursery school in Muhazi district for disadvantaged children, aiming at providing them with a happy childhood filled with playtime, toys, basic skills – and love. All children also get proper food every day and is taught and performed basic hygiene practices. We believe education is the mean to eradicate poverty: the earlier education starts, the more possibilities there are for children to foster their skills, learn abilities and shape a better future for them and their families. Disadvantaged children are at high risk to miss basic education and lose their childhood, being turned to child labor. This means a neglected and denied childhood for children, and a poor start in later education – with insufficient or missing basic skills, as of reading, writing, counting, discipline and English knowledge. "Igiti kigororwa kikiri gito": in Rwanda we believe that "a tree is shaped when it is still young". We work daily to give children love and education, and to protect the treasure in childhood. Nsinda Ikirezi Pre-school was established in 2006, with full approvals and trade license by the Ministry of Education at District level.
A volunteering holiday is a moving experience and a unique opportunity to help and support the children and their families, providing your precious skills for the advance of our project "Protecting the Treasure in Childhood". Whether you have visited Rwanda before or this is your first trip, we know that you will enjoy getting to personally know the children and our Rwandan community , the beautiful setting of our school and the unique opportunity to learn about life in East Africa. We will work with you so that you don’t miss a single opportunity to know the country and make the best use of your time. CCPRWA has worked successfully with volunteers for more than twelve years and our experience will help to make your time with us rewarding and enjoyable. Together with the children, we heartfully look forward to welcoming you.
Although mainly known for the devastating genocide of 1994, Rwanda is a fascinating countryperfectly keeping up with the atmosphere evocated by its nickname – “the land of thousand hills”. You will be raved by its never ending, sweet views of hill after hill, showing a variety of greens one could never imagine, and by the overall sense of beauty and peace you will breathe. Despite their challenging history, people are warm and welcoming, full of hope and goodwill: wherever you go, they will welcome you with smiles if not hugs. After overcoming so many obstacles, Rwanda has a rather optimistic vision for the future and is now one of the most peaceful, safe and clean places in eastern Africa.

Stunning flora and fauna
A lush Mediterranean-type vegetation covers the shores of Lake Kivu, which stands in stark contrast to the papyrus swamps of Rwanda’s eastern frontier and the dense bamboo forests of the Virunga Mountains to the north. There, among the volcanoes, lives the mountain gorilla, protected in the Parc National des Volcans (also known as Parc des Birunga). As for diversity of animal life, however, no other region can match the resources of the Akagera National Park. This vast park hosts the so called “Big Five” – elephants, lions, leopards, rhynoceros and buffalos – and a significant population of buffalo, zebra, impala, and other range animals, as well as baboons, warthogs, and hippopotamuses. Rare species, such as the giant pangolin (an anteater), are also part of Akagera’s diverse fauna. The Nyungwe National Forest, additionally, is home to a number of primates and a rich variety of birds.
