I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the World Youth Club for the Promise Awards Program. This initiative has supported so many young people across the world, including myself, by giving us hope, opportunities, and the encouragement to keep pushing forward.

Being a Promise Award recipient has inspired me to continue supporting children and youth through Act for Kids, and to stay committed to making a positive impact in my community.

Empowering youth is truly powerful, and WYC’s commitment continues to create real change globally. I am grateful to be part of this journey.

Today, my heart remembers. My soul still mourns.
In 1994, I was just 8 years old—lost in the darkness of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Alone. Afraid. Waiting for death, while the world turned its eyes away. I saw women, men, and children killed for nothing—innocent lives erased by hatred.

No one came to save us.

But I survived.
And survival came with a responsibility—to remember, to speak, and to rebuild.

Kwibuka 31 is not just a time of remembrance. It is a call to Kwiyubaka—to rebuild ourselves, our communities, and our nation.
We remember not only the pain, but the power of resilience. We rise not only in grief, but in strength.

Through my journey, I created ACT FOR KIDS/Nakure a home of hope for children who need what I once needed: love, safety, dignity, and a future.

To those we lost: we will never forget you.
To those who survived: your courage lights the way.
To the world: let us never allow such darkness to fall again.

We remember. We unite. We rebuild.
Kwibuka 31. Kwiyubaka. Never again.
