Today is National Day on Writing.

A journal gives a young person a place for thoughts, questions, dreams, drawings, plans, and their own voice.

The Keep Her in School journal reminds girls that their bodies aren’t something to be ashamed of and their education should continue. The Honorable Man journal invites boys to reflect on respect, boundaries, responsibility, and the kind of person they want to become.

Together with our Rotary partners, our goal is to reach 31,000 girls with reusable pads and the Keep Her in School journal, and 31,000 boys with the Honorable Man journal. That’s more than 62,000 young people in Uganda with tools to learn, write, and keep moving forward.

Sunday was a beautiful day at the Arizona Humane Society’s Compassion with Fashion luncheon!

Empower & Shine enjoyed a fabulous fashion show, kissed some puppies, sipped a little bubbly, gave some love and caught up with our friends from New Life Center.

The Arizona Humane Society cared for more than 25,000 pets last year, and this luncheon helps fund the rescue, medical care, and rehabilitation so many animals need. Last year’s event raised a record $2.1 million—we can’t wait to hear what the total was this year!

A big thank-you to the volunteers and hardworking people at the Humane Society for making such a difference for animals in our community. And thank you for a wonderful day!

This is our why.

The smiles, the hope, the joy in this video say so much. The Keep Her in School PAD Project helps make sure a period doesn’t keep a girl from being in school and working toward her future.

Yesterday marked the start of this distribution, made possible by our generous Empower & Shine donors—our friends and family—and our friends and partners at Rotary Club of Maya. Thank you for helping make this happen.

We’re excited to keep this work moving and help more girls stay in school. 💚

Earlier today in Uganda, about 700 girls received reusable pads—the first of 3,000. 🎉

One of the most powerful moments is hearing Kenneth speak to the girls with such warmth and respect. It’s wonderful to see caring women and men supporting them—and especially to see a man remind these girls that they are seen, valued, and worthy of respect. That’s what an honorable man looks like.

Thank you to everyone who donated to the Keep Her in School PAD Project, and a huge shout-out to our friends at the Rotary Club of Maya for organizing and carrying out the distribution.

These first 3,000 girls give us a chance to learn, fine-tune the process, and see what kind of wave we can make. We’re looking ahead to a much larger project with the Rotary Club of Maya and the Rosslyn-Fort Myers Rotary Club: reusable pads for 31,000 girls and journals for 31,000 boys. 💛

A huge shout-out to our friends at the Rotary Club of Maya for organizing and carrying out the delivery. We’re so grateful for their help getting this first distribution underway.

And this is just the beginning! Through a generous Rotary global grant with the Rotary Club of Maya and the Rosslyn-Fort Myers Rotary Club of Virginia, the next phase will reach 31,000 girls with reusable pads and 31,000 boys with journals.

Our Sideline Angel has stepped up again! 💛

She first committed $20,000 to the Field of Dreams. Now she’s committed another $25,000 to our Keep Her in School PAD Project.

We’re already on track to reach our goal of 31,000 girls through Empower & Shine’s contribution and our Rotary partnership. And with Sideline Angel’s gift, plus the potential Rotary global grant, this project could reach even further. If the $25,000 grows to $100,000, that could help provide pads for about 10,000 additional girls, using our simple estimate of $10 per girl.

We’re so grateful for this generous friend and for our partners at Rotary Club of Maya and Rosslyn-Fort Myers Rotary. What a difference we can make together!

HUGE NEWS❤️

31,000 girls. 31,000 boys. And a lot of friends working together to help make it happen.

The Keep Her in School PAD Project is taking shape, and we’re excited to partner with our friends at Rotary Club of Maya and Rosslyn-Fort Myers Rotary. Our goal is to reach 31,000 girls with reusable menstrual kits and 31,000 boys with journals and education by November 2027.

Your $10 donation can help provide pads for one girl—and, with the support of Empower & Shine and our Rotary partners, potentially help four girls.

Every kit, every journal, and every conversation can help students feel supported and ready to learn. We can’t wait to get this project underway with our friends in Uganda.
