Be A Rosie honors Rosie's memory through kindness projects that spread her warmth throughout the world.

Led by her parents Jody and Mike with community support, we create initiatives inspired by Rosie's interests to fill the void left by her passing.

Rosie’s heart now lives beneath the waves in Fiji. 💙

Rosie loved all living things, and this ocean was one of her favorite places. As part of our Wildlife Kindness Initiative, and thanks to all of you who supported our t-shirt fundraiser, Ian of Fiji Surf Company built and installed a heart-shaped reef in her honor. Coral will grow, fish will find shelter, and her kindness will keep reaching the wild creatures she cared about.

Jack went to his first gala! 🐾

Rancho Coastal Humane Society invited Jack to be a special therapy dog ambassador at their biggest fundraiser of the year, held at a country club in Del Mar. He charmed guests all evening (he was definitely the most popular guest in the room) and helped raise over $50,000 for animals in need.

Jack's story is RCHS from start to finish: rescued by RCHS, adopted from RCHS, trained through RCHS, and now volunteering through RCHS.

And it all connects back to Rosie. Rosie adopted her beloved Brie from RCHS, then sold scones at school and donated every dollar to the shelter, setting a school record of over $950. When she passed, friends and family gave about $10,000 to RCHS in her honor.

$950. $10,000. $50,000+. Rosie's love keeps growing. ❤️

Our neighbors showed up in a big way. 💛

Thanks to the San Elijo Hills HOA and every family who donated, we collected [### lbs] of non-perishable food for the San Diego Food Bank North County. From the pickup to the dropoff, this community made it happen.

Rosie always made sure the people around her had what they needed. This food drive was one more way to carry that forward.

Thank you, San Elijo Hills. You were Rosies this fall.

Rosie loved the ocean, and she loved her VCS family. 🌊💛

VCS became part of our lives after Rosie made a chance introduction while shopping for orchids, one of her great passions. She looked forward to every VCS holiday party, and at her last one in December 2024, she won the beach party costume contest with an old surfboard she painted in a Christmas VCS theme. She used her prize to buy her favorite swimsuit.

This year, ALL4 (VCS' new name) wanted to honor Rosie by doing something she would love. Together with Be A Rosie, the team removed trash from Doheny State Beach and then gathered with her surfboard for a photo.

Let's stock the shelves with love and kindness. 🌹

Be A Rosie and San Elijo Hills are collecting non-perishable food all week, and every single item goes to the San Diego Food Bank, North County location.

Drop off at the SEH HOA Office, 1277 San Elijo Rd, now through Friday, September 18, by 4pm.

Most needed: peanut butter, noodles, canned proteins, sauces, shelf stable milk, all cereals, canned veggies and fruit, baby formula and baby food, and cooking essentials.

A few fun ways to fill a bag:
• Send the kids "trick-or-treating" for canned goods around the neighborhood
• Challenge another street to see who can collect the most
• Host a potluck and ask anyone not cooking to bring a bag of items

Every can, box, and bag is a small act of kindness. Thank you, neighbors. 💗

Rosie cleaned out the pantry with her whole heart. Now her neighbors are doing the same.

Be A Rosie has partnered with the San Elijo Hills Homeowners Association for a neighborhood non-perishable food drive. Every donation goes to the San Diego Food Bank, North County location.

Jack visited a memory care home for the first time this week.

We weren't sure how it would go. Within a few minutes he had settled his head on someone's lap, and then he went from person to person, stopping at each chair like he had a list. Some of them talked to him about dogs they'd had fifty years ago. He didn't mind hearing the same story twice.

Watch the last few seconds of the video. You'll see a pair of hands holding Jack, with roses on his collar. Then the shot pulls back to a little girl holding her dog Brie. That's Rosie. Brie is the reason any of this exists.

Rosie was a compassionate 12-year-old who made everyone around her feel seen and included. When she unexpectedly passed away, our family created Be A Rosie to keep her spirit of kindness alive.

That is how Kindness Clips started. They are hand decorated clothespins that teachers and students use to recognize compassion, authenticity, and respect, clipped right onto a backpack where the whole hallway can see it. Simple, powerful, and contagious.

Thousands of clips have already gone out to middle schools across the country, and we have five boxes ready to mail at no cost to the school.

A few days ago, we celebrated what would have been Rosie's birthday. We wanted to share this video with all of you, a collection of memories from her birthdays past, along with a song from the friends who loved her and still carry her in their hearts.

Rosie's light continues through Be A Rosie, through every act of kindness inspired in her name, and through all of you who remember her with us.

Happy belated birthday, sweet Rosie. We love you and miss you more than words can say. 💛

School starts next week.

This morning we spent some time at Double Peak School getting the Love and Kindness Reflection Garden ready for the kids coming back. Trimming, weeding, pulling out what didn't make it through the summer, and planting new lavender.

The lavender is there on purpose. It's the first thing you notice. You smell it before you even sit down.

The garden was built in Rosie's memory, and the whole idea behind it is simple. Any kid having a hard day should have somewhere quiet to go. Somewhere that reminds them kindness is close by.

To the students walking back onto that campus next week: it's ready for you. 🤍
