Be A Rosie Be A Rosie honors Rosie's memory through kindness projects that spread her warmth throughout the world.

Led by her parents Jody and Mike with community support, we create initiatives inspired by Rosie's interests to fill the void left by her passing.

It started as a w**d patch. 🌱 Today, we're so proud to share that Rosie's Love & Kindness Reflection Garden at Double Peak School is finished and blooming. πŸ’›
What was once overgrown ground is now a living tribute to Rosie's loving spirit β€” filled with native plants, new life, and messages of love from the people who knew her best. A killdeer mother nested here and her chicks hatched safely. A monarch caterpillar found a home in the milkw**d. A windchime chosen by Rosie's music teacher sings in the breeze. And at the heart of it all, hundreds of hand-painted stones from Rosie's classmates form a heart β€” each one carrying a message of love and kindness.
This garden is more than a place. It's a promise that her kindness keeps growing. 🌸
πŸ’— Special thanks to everyone who made it possible: the Double Peak School Community, VFW Post 5431, O'Connell Landscaping, Everde Nursery, Greatsoil, SiteOne Green Thumb, KRC Rock, San Marcos Trophy, and Hunter Industries. We are so grateful. πŸ™

Handsome Jack's 2-month review is in. 🐾
In just 60 days, Jack has spread love to 505 people β€” visiting adult day cares, assisted living, memory care, and even a kids camp.
And we have big news: Jack is now certified by the Department of Justice to support survivors of domestic abuse.
From a rescue dog... to a certified therapy dog. πŸ’›
Rosie would be so proud.

A Garden Comes to Life 🌱
Rosie's Love & Kindness Reflection Garden is coming together beautifully β€” with a lot of help from a lot of loving hands. πŸ’›
In recent weeks, the kids of Double Peak School have painted rocks with messages of love and kindness and spread mulch across the garden. The sweetest details have come together too: drip irrigation to keep everything thriving, a succulent garden with resident fairies, tables and umbrellas for shade, and a tic-tac-toe game for a little fun.
But the best surprise of all came from nature itself. After work on the garden began, a killdeer pair laid four eggs right in the heart of the garden. We've given the pair all the space they need to raise their chicks, which should hatch any day now. 🐣
Rosie loved animals and the natural world, so a little family choosing this garden as home feels exactly right. Rosie is proud.
Opening June 2026 in San Marcos, CA β€” in time for what would have been Rosie's 8th grade graduation. 🌹
A heartfelt thank you to the Double Peak School community, O'Connell Landscape Maintenance, the PTO, VFW Post 5431, and everyone who has supported this garden through Be A Rosie t-shirt sales.

Facebook Post:
A Mother's Love, Growing πŸ’›
Happy Mother's Day from Rosie's Love & Kindness Reflection Garden at Double Peak School. 🌸
So much has happened at the garden in recent weeks. Volunteers from O'Connell Landscape Maintenance planted the first plant β€” a beautiful California live oak that will grow alongside Rosie's legacy for generations to come. The students of Double Peak School have been shaping the garden with their hands and their hearts, painting rocks with messages of love and kindness, and bringing what was once a forgotten w**dpatch to life.
The love and kindness this garden is already spreading throughout our community is exactly what Rosie would have wanted. Rosie is proud. πŸ’›
The video closes on Jody β€” Rosie's mom β€” painting a heart on a rock. A quiet, perfect picture of a mother's devotion that says more than words ever could. On a day when we celebrate mothers everywhere, we're celebrating the extraordinary love a mother carries for her daughter β€” a love that built a garden.
Opening June 2026 in San Marcos, CA β€” in time for what would have been Rosie's 8th grade graduation. 🌹
A heartfelt thank you to O'Connell Landscape Maintenance, the Double Peak School community, the PTO, VFW Post 5431, and everyone who has supported this garden through Be A Rosie t-shirt sales. This garden belongs to all of us.

My sister Rosie and I started our Giving Garden together β€” growing produce and squeezing lemonade in our front yard, then donating every dollar through Kiva.org to fund women entrepreneurs around the world. 🌱
I keep our garden growing in her honor. πŸ’š
Together, we've now lent $1,530 across 36 loans in 18 countries β€” placing us in the top 9% of Kiva lenders worldwide. 🌍
Rosie loved fishing, so this month I funded Rosebelle and Maribeth, two women in the Philippines buying fishnets, rope, and gasoline to grow their fishing businesses and secure their families' futures. 🎣
Every seed we plant carries Rosie's love. Want to grow with us?

From Weeds to Wonder 🌱 Watch Rosie's Reflection Garden Come to Life
Look at the progress at Rosie's Love & Kindness Reflection Garden! πŸ’›
This week at Double Peak School, our amazing volunteers pulled out a mountain of w**ds, spread 20 cubic yards of fresh topsoil, started hanging decorations, brought in pots for succulents, and painted boulders to brighten the space. Planting begins this week! 🌸
When it opens in June 2026, this collaborative garden will honor Rosie's loving spirit through native plants, student artwork, and peaceful seating areas β€” a place where students and the community can pause, reflect, and feel her kindness in every corner.
Thank you to everyone who has rolled up their sleeves, donated, or cheered us on. Rosie is smiling. πŸ’—

Handsome Jack did it. 🐾
He's officially a therapy dog.
We adopted Jack from the Rancho Coastal Humane Society and named him after a dog Rosie loved. In March, he passed his Good Canine Citizen Test and his Pet Assisted Therapy Dog Evaluation. This month, he completed his three supervised visits β€” the final step.
Now he'll spend his days where Rosie would want him most: sitting with people in hospitals and nursing homes on their hardest days, bringing a little comfort and a lot of love.
A therapy dog visited Rosie on her last day in the ICU. Jack is our way of passing that kindness forward.
This one's for you, Rosie. πŸ’›

We are so excited to share that Double Peak School has invited us to collaborate on a Love and Kindness Reflection Garden right here on campus in San Marcos! πŸŒΈπŸ’›
The garden will be completed in June β€” in time for what would have been Rosie's 8th grade graduation β€” and will carry forward her loving and kind nature for generations of Double Peak students to come.
Rosie had a personal connection to every plant in this garden. It will feature fragrant plants, California natives, water-wise succulents, milkw**d for monarchs, and poppies β€” the same poppies her brother Luke has been sharing with neighbors for years. And one single rose, planted in her memory. 🌹
Students and staff are already leaving their mark β€” river rocks painted with love and kindness messages are in place, and boulders are ready to be painted. The garden will also feature a tic-tac-toe area, a miniature library, a succulent display, and three semi-secluded seating areas with beautiful views.
This garden would not be possible without the generosity of the Double Peak Parent-Teacher Organization, Be A Rosie t-shirt sales, and VFW Post 5431. We are so grateful. πŸ™
Rosie made everyone feel seen. This garden will carry that forward.

T-shirt sales β†’ $1,000 β†’ Uganda πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¬
We partnered with AfriCODE, who matched our donation with $800, and together they trained Batwa women to make and sell handmade crafts to tourists. 🎨🧢
The Batwa were removed from their forest homeland to protect gorillas and have struggled ever since. Now they have a new way to support themselves and their families. πŸ’›
