• About us
Umuduri band is a group of musicians and singers from Burundi who live in Rwanda as refugees. Our goal is to promote peace, reconciliation, and children’s rights through arts. Our project aims at helping youth and refugees to discover and develop their talents by organizing cultural activities and artistic events.

Art Space
To discover, develop, and engage children and youth in the culture of creativity, the Umuduri Band Initiative Organisation is going to open an Artspace in Kigali.
• Why
We believe that while everyone is born with talent, just a few people have a space to develop and show it. Thanks to this opportunity every child and youth who doesn`t get the chance to attend an Art school can explore their inner abilities. The activities will include every form of art such as drawing, painting, singing, dancing, performing, and playing traditional or non-traditional instruments. The initiative’s name is “My Talent is my Wealth” because we believe that the development of young generations' talents could help them in their personal lives while promoting peace and a sense of community. Our dream is to provide adequate assistance to child refugees and to guarantee that their rights to recreational and leisure activities are fulfilled as provided under the Convention of the Right of the Child. Our mission is to guide children and youth to build up autonomy and self-reliance which are the basis of entrepreneurship and social mobility. Through music and arts, we can build a culture of peace, reconciliation, human rights respect all over the world and especially in the Great Lakes region.
• How Activities will be implemented
Thanks to their heterogeneous skills and abilities, the members of the Umuduri Band, with the help of talented volunteers, will provide these workshops. Thanks to the latter, we will promote the enhancement of the artistic heritage while experimenting with pioneering sounds and non-traditional instruments.
