Today, 12 March 2026, the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee (RNOSC), through its Conflict Resolution Committee, successfully organized a “Capacity-Building Workshop for the Conflict Resolution Committees of National Federations.”

The workshop was facilitated by members of the RNOSC Conflict Resolution Committee—Kagarama Clementine, Rwabuhihi Innocent, and Nkurunziza Jean Pierre—who shared their knowledge and experience with representatives from various National Federations.

During the session, participants discussed key aspects of conflict management within sports organizations, including conflict prevention, dispute resolution mechanisms, the hierarchy of dispute resolution, and common governance challenges faced by National Federations.

As the workshop concluded, the Secretary General of the Rwanda National Olympic and Sports Committee, Mr. KAJANGWE Joseph, emphasized the importance of understanding the proper hierarchy of reporting and conflict resolution in order to prevent disputes from escalating.

“It is essential for Conflict Resolution Committees to understand the proper hierarchy of reporting and conflict resolution mechanisms in order to avoid further conflict. Once you identify a potential case of dispute, there is no need to immediately escalate it to the Ministry of Sports or the National Olympic Committee,” he noted.

He further stressed the importance of proactive governance within sports organizations:
“While resolving disputes remains important, our primary focus should always be on preventing conflicts before they arise.”

The workshop, held at the Ministry of Sports Boardroom, aimed to strengthen the capacity of National Federations to manage disputes effectively and promote good governance within Rwanda’s sports movement.
