Today, Rwanda Young Water Professional organized a workshop with Green City Club focal persons and head teachers from schools hosting Green City Clubs across Kigali.

The workshop focused on reflecting on lessons from previous school greening campaigns, sharing experiences, and strengthening schools’ ownership and responsibility for the long-term care and maintenance of planted trees.

A special moment at the Africa Water & Sanitation Systems Leadership Symposium 2026 as we celebrated the top five youth innovators, who were awarded full sponsorship from the African Union to attend the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from 8–10 December 2026.

What happens when youth innovators get the room and the right people are listening?

Yesterday at , Africayouth innovators took part in sessions on commercial performance and service delivery, as well as circular economy and climate resilience sharing the innovations they are developing and discussing the challenges of taking them further.

The Youth Innovation Matchmaking created an opportunity for innovators to engage directly with investors, policymakers, utilities, development partners and sector leaders, opening conversations around partnership, investment, adoption and scale-up.

FROM PARTICIPATION TO POWER

Yesterday at the Africa Water Systems Symposium 2026, we joined an important session organized by UNICEF on strengthening the role of young people in water and sanitation accountability.

The session explored how youth engagement can move beyond consultation and connect with formal national and continental systems, creating meaningful entry points for young people to contribute to governance and accountability.

Representing Rwanda Young Water Professional, our Deputy Executive Secretary, Divine Gloria TUYIKUNDE, was among the speakers and showcased concrete examples of youth engagement in Rwanda across accountability, service monitoring, climate resilience, governance and policy influence.

Her contribution highlighted how young people are already playing an active role in strengthening Rwanda’s water sector and why these experiences can help inform stronger pathways for youth engagement across Africa.

As part of this important conversation, Rwanda Young Water Professionals (RYWP) is leading the Youth Solutions & Innovation Dialogue, bringing young innovators from across Africa together to share practical solutions, exchange ideas and connect with people who can help take their innovations further.

Across five sessions, we’ll explore solutions around infrastructure and asset management, service delivery, circular economy and climate resilience, and digital governance.
