Yesterday, we were very excited to join the UR-YWP Club as they wrapped up another successful academic year.

The event was a celebration of innovation, leadership, and impact. Through the Blue & Green Spark Competition, student teams presented practical solutions to real-world water and environmental challenges, demonstrating how young professionals are turning knowledge into action. From climate-related flooding and urban water scarcity to wastewater management, the ideas presented reflected both creativity and a strong commitment to solving today’s challenges.

We were proud to recognize the top-performing teams, celebrate the club’s graduating finalists, and witness the official handover of leadership from the outgoing committee to the newly elected committee.

A special thank you to our Chairperson, François Tetero, and Prof. Wali for honoring the event with their presence and support.

As part of Kwibuka 32, Rwanda Young Water Professional and Water Partnership Rwanda visited the Ntarama Genocide Memorial to honor the memory of the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Originally a Catholic church, the site became a place where many Tutsi sought refuge in the hope of finding safety. Today, it serves as a powerful reminder of the lives lost and the importance of preserving memory. Walking through the memorial, reading the stories, and engaging with the history preserved there offered a moment to reflect on the consequences of division, the strength found in unity, and the remarkable progress Rwanda has made in rebuilding and reconciling as one nation.

For young professionals, remembrance is also a learning journey. Experiences such as this remind us that preserving memory is a shared responsibility. They deepen our understanding of the past, reinforce our values, and inspire us to lead with integrity, contribute positively to our communities, and help build a future founded on unity, respect, and shared responsibility.
