Did you know that plastic pollution is more than an environmental issue? It affects our health, our water, our food systems, and the communities we live in.
With more than 400 million tons of plastic waste produced each year globally, practical community action matters.
Through the Sustain Her Project, Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN), in partnership with WECF International , trained Women Safe Space Facilitators and RWN staff on plastic waste management, plastic alternatives, and community-led solutions.
Because protecting our environment is not only about managing waste; it is about empowering people to create a lasting sustainable change.

A new chapter begins!

This morning, Rwanda Women’s Network and the Embassy of Sweden in Rwanda Embassy of Sweden in Kigali officially signed a three-year partnership to implement the Empowered Civil Society: Enhancing Capacity and Transparency for Gender Equality in Rwanda project. Through advocacy, capacity building, and sub-granting support to civil society organizations, the project will advance gender equality, human rights, child protection, climate action, family promotion, and inclusive governance.

We look forward to the meaningful impact we will create together.

What a powerful learning experience!

There is something truly inspiring about hearing a story of transformation directly from the person who has lived it.
Through the Femmes en Action Project, Rwanda Women’s Network, together with our partners from Coopération Nord-Sud a.s.b.l. , visited Women Safe Spaces in and Kayonza District , where women shared powerful journeys of healing, resilience, confidence, transformation, and empowerment. Their courage inspires us every day, and we are proud to continue walking this journey with them as they create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

🇷🇼 is well known worldwide for its inclusive leadership and gender equality. After the 1994 genocide (which left 70% of the population female), women immediately began rebuilding the country’s social, legal, and economic systems.

Today, Rwanda leads the world in political representation, with women holding 63.8% of seats in the Chamber of Deputies, and greatly exceeds global averages in financial leadership.

Today we spotlight some outstanding Rwandan women who are reshaping the narrative of what inclusive leadership can achieve.

As part of the Femmes en Action Project, Rwanda Women’s Network (RWN) and Coopération Nord-Sud a.s.b.l. are supporting vulnerable women in Kayonza District and through trainings on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and savings.

Building on these skills, participants are now forming Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs) to save together, access small loans, invest in income-generating activities supporting one another, and strengthen their economic resilience for a brighter future.
