On 10 September 2026, Special Olympics Rwanda took part in a Government Coalition Training led by Special Olympics Africa staff, bringing together staff and Board members to strengthen collaboration on Unified Champion Schools and promote inclusion for people with intellectual disabilities.

Special Olympics Rwanda has begun a two-day coach and teacher training programme aimed at strengthening inclusive sport and education as part of the country’s expansion of the Unified Champion Schools (UCS) programme.

Yesterday, Special Olympics Rwanda successfully convened the District Education and Unified Sports Advisory Committees from Bugesera, Gasabo, Kicukiro, and Nyarugenge for a capacity-building workshop under the Unified Champion Schools (UCS) Project.
The workshop focused on strengthening the capacity of district advisory committees to support the implementation of Unified Champion Schools by promoting inclusive education, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and expanding opportunities for students with and without intellectual disabilities to learn, play, and lead together.
We sincerely thank all committee members and partners for their continued commitment to building more inclusive schools and communities across Rwanda.
