On 19โ20 August, Dorcas Consolation Family - DCF brought educators from five home based ECD centers and one community based center, ECD Ibibondo, out of the classroom and into training.
The focus: Rwanda's ECD Curriculum, child protection, and how to spot the earliest warning signs of developmental delay.
Because 90% of a child's brain is built by age 5. And in Akarere ka Rwamagana, 19.2% of children are already stunted before they reach school age. Nationally, it's 27%.
This is what that training feeds into, a chain that doesn't let a child slip through:
๐น Educators and caregivers, feeding, teaching, observing daily
๐น Nurses at our IRAKIZA Health Post, weighing and measuring
๐น Community animators, following up at home
This term alone, that chain screened 208 children. 63 flagged with early warning signs improved. None reached the severe zone.
Better trained educators. Earlier flags. Stronger children.
