A sad child doesn’t need a lecture. They need safety. Play. Someone who listens.

At Empower The Future Organisation, we sit with children who arrive heavy with worry. We play games, share lunch, and just talk. No pressure. Just care.

Watching them leave with lighter steps and actual smiles? That’s why we do this work.

Your support makes those moments possible. Crayons, snacks, counseling time — it all adds up to hope.

This week we welcomed a delegation from the City of Kigali to Empower The Future Organisation 👋

They visited our new branches in Kicukiro & Nyarugenge to see the progress of parents and children since launch. Together we discussed root causes that push children to the streets and how we can tackle them as one team.

Nsengiyumva Fidele, Social Protection Specialist at City of Kigali, reminded us: lasting change happens when parents, communities, the City, and ETF work together.

The delegation toured our Life Skills departments, saw parents creating quality products, and visited GS Kagarama to encourage former street children now in school.

We’re grateful for this strong partnership. Together, we’re building a street-child-free Kigali — one family, one child at a time 💛

The timing that felt like delay was actually preparation.
What you’re becoming now is worth the wait.

We were thrilled to receive visitors, including one of our important donors, Andrus, and his wife, Andrus at our organization, during their visit to our programs. They were accompanied by other visitors from and National Rehabilitation Services (NRS) .

They toured the different Life Skills programs, the Rehabilitation Class, and the Early Childhood Development (ECD) program to witness the impact Empower The Future Organisation is making in the community.

The visit was also attended by representatives from different partner institutions, including City of Kigali and NRS. During the tour, former street children expressed their joy through traditional and modern performances, showing appreciation for the continued support and care they receive through Empower The Future programs.

All the visitors were greatly amazed by our positive impact on the community and highly appreciated the dedication of our team.

Emile Kayitare , the Founder and Executive Director of Empower The Future, explained that the main purpose of the Life Skills programs is to help parents and guardians of former street children become self-reliant and improve their livelihoods. He also shared that many of the parents have young children, which inspired Empower The Future to initiate the Early Childhood Development (ECD) program. The program helps children learn and improve their health before joining nursery school, while their parents continue attending different life skills trainings.

The visit highlighted the importance of partnerships and support in building a brighter future for children and families in the community.

Meet Beatrice — one of the most instrumental moms in our Empower The Future Organisation programs .

A few years ago, Beatrice’s own childhood was spent on the streets. No steady home, no classroom, no guarantee of a meal. Life was about surviving day to day.

Everything shifted when she became a mom. She joined Empower the Future because she wanted something different for her child. What started as support for her little one became a doorway for her too.

Beatrice didn’t stop there. She enrolled in the courses we offer — life skills, literacy, parenting, early childhood development. She showed up, asked questions, practiced, and kept going even when it was hard.

Today, she’s thriving as a caregiver in our ECD program. The same hands that once had to fend for themselves on the streets are now holding, teaching, and caring for other children with patience and love.

Beatrice says she’s not just building a future for her child, she’s reclaiming her own.

Stories like Beatrice’s happen because of support from people like you. If you’d like to help more moms and children thrive, you can donate here:

For the families we support at Empower The Future Organisation, hunger makes learning impossible. When parents worry about the next meal, it’s hard to focus on training, classes, or planning for the future.

That’s why food relief is part of the work. We provide short-term food support so parents can show up, learn safely, and build skills without their children going to bed hungry.

It’s not just about filling plates today. It’s about creating the stability families need to grow, learn, and break the cycle of food insecurity for good.

Because no parent should have to choose between learning and feeding their kids.
