What if the most powerful force in care is not only treatment, but ?

We are excited to share that our Executive Director Dr. Christian Ntizimira was featured by in a conversation on , the work of in , and the transformative power of community through an African lens.

Palliative care is not optional.
Not secondary.
Not a final chapter.

It is an essential pillar of oncology, as important to dignity as chemotherapy and radiotherapy are to treatment.

Because patients and families do not only need medicine.
👉They need comfort.
👉They need presence.
👉They need to remain human in the middle of suffering.

That is the power of palliative care.
That is the power of community.

A few weeks ago, our Executive Director Dr. Christian Ntizimira had the great honor of lecturing at Stanford University, where he shared reflections on the development of in , the contribution of ACREOL Global, and the importance of culturally grounded approaches to serious illness .

This was also an opportunity to present and the philosophy in palliativecare frameworks that remind us that care must go beyond treatment to embrace dignity, compassion, community, and shared humanity.

Special thanks to Dr. Mary Dunne (Mimi), grateful to Dr. Lidia Schapira, Dr. Justin Baker, Dr. Deborah Kado, Paul Mischel, tanya luhrmann, Laura Wittman, Kelsey Clough, and all colleagues who created space for this important dialogue.

Bringing Rwanda’s experience to Stanford University was not only a professional milestone, but a reminder that palliative care is a global movement rooted in one universal truth: every person deserves to be cared for with dignity until the end.

“The Safari Concept is not a book; it is a bridge of .”

What we love most about attending the conference is the opportunity to learn from updated studies, new evidence, and the rich experiences of colleagues from around the world. Every session, every discussion, and every exchange opens a window into how care is understood, practiced, and lived in different contexts.

But beyond the science, beyond the presentations, and beyond the conference rooms, what’s touching the most deeply is the .

👉It is the people we meet.
👉The new friendships we build.
👉The unexpected conversations that stay in our hearts.
👉The shared stories remind us that palliative care is not only about medicine, but also about dignity, presence, culture, compassion, and humanity.

“The Safari Concept is not just a book. It is a bridge: between cultures, between professionals, between communities, and between ways of understanding life, suffering, care, and accompaniment”…our Executive Director Dr. Christian Ntizimira emphasized.

These are the encounters that change us and transform the way we work. They bring the spirit of Ubuntu into our scientific exchanges.

Prague is magical, full of beauty, memory, and inspiration.

À bientôt for new encounters with the Safari Concept, here or elsewhere.

“I never imagined that I would have to defend my own in this way, after an experience that left me humiliated and without a meaningful response from those who had a responsibility to acknowledge what happened.

I was told by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines that my experience would be treated as a matter of “internal awareness.” I find this deeply troubling. Awareness without acknowledgment is not accountability. Learning without response is not justice. When a person reports humiliation and harm, the answer cannot remain hidden inside an institution.”

Our Executive Director, Dr. Ntizimira Christian Heritier, shared this powerful reflection after an experience that challenged the very principle he has dedicated his life to defending: dignity.

A Mother’s Love in Every Step of Palliative Care 💐

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate every mother who gives love, strength, compassion and care with dignity and hope.

In palliative care, mothers are not only caregivers; they are comforters, advocates, listeners, and a source of dignity within families. Their presence reminds us that care goes beyond medicine; it is found in holding a hand, preparing a meal, managing pain with patience, and staying close when life becomes fragile.

🥳Happy Mother’s Day!
