I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation for the remarkable achievements of Alexis Iradukunda during his tenure as a CorpsAfrica/Rwanda CorpsAfrica/Rwanda volunteer in Nyamagabe District , Musange sector, Jenda cell, Nyakibungo village 2023/2024. It was really good to work with him as his direct coordinator. Alexis has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to improving the lives of the community, particularly focusing on youth empowerment.
During his service, Alexis played a pivotal role in forming a vibrant youth group, with a commendable emphasis on gender inclusivity, ensuring that over 60% of the group comprised females. Together with these youth, Alexis initiated several impactful projects aimed at enhancing community well-being and fostering sustainable development.
Under Alexis' leadership and with the support of CorpsAfrica/Rwanda, the community witnessed the implementation of 78 kitchen gardens, promoting nutrition and food security among households. Additionally, 86 plate racks were installed to bolster hygiene practices, contributing to disease prevention. Alexis also oversaw the construction of 25 pit latrines, significantly improving sanitation standards and ensuring a safer environment, particularly benefiting women.
Furthermore, Alexis facilitated the establishment of ICT classes, benefiting both teachers and youth, with several participants already graduating and others preparing for graduation. Moreover, leveraging financial support totaling $2,245, Alexis and the youth group launched a beekeeping project and small business initiative. This initiative not only generates income but also creates economic opportunities for the youth of Nyakibungo, thereby fostering sustainable livelihoods.
As Alexis embarks on a new chapter as a CorpsAfrica Exchange volunteer in CorpsAfrica Uganda , I extend my best wishes for continued success and impactful service. His exemplary leadership and dedication have left a lasting legacy in Nyakibungo, inspiring positive change and empowering the community for years to come.
