Today we had the privilege of meeting Kevine (18 years old, on the right), who experienced an unintended pregnancy at the age of 15, and Seraphine (19 years old), who became pregnant at the age of 17.
Following these life-changing experiences, both had to drop out of secondary school. They lost confidence in themselves and felt rejected by their families and society. Coming from low-income families, they faced many challenges while trying to care for their children.
Through Rwanda Village Community Promoter (RVCP) under the Umucyo Project, their lives have begun to change. Over the past six months, they have received counseling, mentorship, vocational training in tailoring, medical insurance, and other forms of support to help them rebuild their futures.
Today marked a special milestone as they proudly received their sewing machines after successfully completing their training. This is more than receiving equipment—it is the beginning of financial independence, restored dignity, and renewed hope.
In their own words: “Now our families have started to believe in us again. We have regained confidence, and we believe we can provide for ourselves and our children.”
