Our new project is Ark of Hope which is a residential home for young mothers who do not have support from family or partners, and would have otherwise not been able to keep their children. There is no greater indicator of life-long poverty than to be a single, teenage mother. When a young girl calls us for help, our Psychologist goes to her and advise her of her options available. Our program help

s to break that cycle of life-long poverty by providing housing, counselling and training, with an emphasis on parenting, education, job readiness and self-sufficiency. When a young girl decides to keep her baby, we also assist her with medical care, assistance with her documents to gain State Allowance and additional training such as cooking classes, budgeting and overall to prepare her for independent living. Our Social workers and Psychologists work with local State Departments and organizations to help achieve the best care and training for the young mothers. We do have a program “Mobile Ark” for young mothers who do not require housing, but who are in the need for financial support and training. Our Social Workers and Psychologists will work with her for a year in her own environment, providing weekly visits, and offering practical and financial support.
