Moscow Trade Union Federation is a Public organization, a regional public association of the trade union organizations, created on a voluntary basis by city territorial organizations of the branch trade unions and by city trade unions. otes unity of their actions on protection of social and economic interests of workers. MTUF was founded on December, 15, 1990 by thirty two trade unions of Moscow. Today the Federation unites 41 affiliates. It has about 1 300 000 members. MTUF directs the basic efforts to creation the system of protecting social and economic interests of the trade union members on the basis by concluding of:
- the Moscow Tripartite Agreement between the Government of Moscow, the Moscow Trade Union Federation and the Moscow Confederation of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (employers);
- city branch agreements;
- collective contracts in the organizations and at the enterprises. MTUF makes use of several means of struggle for economic and social interests of working people such mass collective actions as pickets, demonstrations, strikes, marches of the protest, procession and meetings. MTUF cooperates constantly with deputies of the Moscow City Duma. MTUF pays a considerable attention to solving social problems, organizing recreation and health care of working people and members of their families, developing folk arts, carrying out city festivities and sporting competitions. In cooperation with the Moscow Government MTUF arranges children's country camps recreation during their holidays. Moscow Trade Union Federation organizes competitions of professional skills “Moscow craftsmen”, Kremlin New Year Show for children, Moscow Ski track, 1st May demonstration. MTUF develops international cooperation with Trade Unions from different countries in order to put into practice useful experience of foreign trade unions. The training of the trade union staff and activists to work is spent by the Moscow Trade Union Federation in the Training and Research Center and on the Central Trade Union Courses. Today the MTUF Training and Research Center is the center of studying and experience generalization of trade union construction in the city, the center of distribution of the advanced, progressive ideas of the international trade union movement. The Training and Research Center is engaged with training the trade union staff and activists and also deep studies of practice of trade union movement, tendencies of its development.
