We were founded and run by concerned animal lovers moved by the cruelty and hardships the stray animal population faces both on the streets and in the Public Shelter within the city. We devote our time to rescuing animals in need from the streets and the public shelter in Timisoara. We have identified major problems within our town, and more generally the Romanian shelters. This, coupled with the
fact that there is an ever increasing stray population on the city's streets, which already exceeds 3,000 dogs, means help and intervention is desperately needed. (There is no way to even begin to count the number of stray cats.) The plight of the stray population within Romania is becoming known throughout Europe. ACT Timisoara has devised a plan to help manage the stray population within the city. By implementing a sterilization program for the strays of Timisoara, it is hoped we can start to slow down and eventually stop this population explosion. Our team of dedicated volunteers is also deeply involved with the welfare and rescue of animals in need. We save moms with their puppies, abandoned pups that could not survive on their own, animals that have been hit by cars, dogs suffering with health and medical problems, any animal that is struggling to survive or has been brought to our attention. We rescue them, put them in foster care, give them the medical care they require, vaccinate and deworm / deflea them. We microchip and ensure each one has a valid passport, which is required by law. We then do all we can to find them loving homes to spends their lives in. Our Paid fosters are those where Animal Care Team Timisoara finance all the animals needs during their stay with the fosters. Accommodation, food, vet bills and travel preparations are all paid by our organization. For our volunteer fosters we don’t pay the accommodation, but we provide the food, vet bills and travel preparations for the animals they care for. We are constantly looking to find new fosterers to provide a safe place for the animals to stay while we look for permanent loving homes for them. We work with several Associations from Germany, Denmark, Austria and the UK in order to find families for our rescued animals. We are in desperate need of help and support! Donations of animal food (dog or cat) to help us feed the animals in our care would be an enormous help. We need money to help us with the costs of treating injured animals, spaying and neutering, vaccinations and internal/external parasite treatments, passports, microchipping, bedding etc, our list is endless. Even things as simple as a collar. We need your help. Urgently.
