❤🐾 HOPE — READY FOR HER FOREVER HOME 🐾❤
🇬🇧 HOPE IS CURRENTLY ON FOSTER IN SOUTH WALES, UK 🇬🇧
Hope lived for three long, hopeless and miserable years in a Romanian kill shelter. As no one had shown an ounce of interest in this dear girl, the shelter put her on their “Black List” – i.e. euthanisia. RACE were (and still are) bursting at the seams with rescue dogs … every time we find a forever home for one of our precious dogs, we seem to get litters of young puppies abandoned who find their way to us … it’s a never ending battle. We knew that Hope would make an excellent family dog … the volunteers at the shelter (the only salvation these dogs have) knew Hope well as did our Elena who had seen her so many times. In a last ditch attempt to save this girl’s life, we appealed to get her into an experienced foster home in the UK. Thanks to some of our fabulous supporters, we got the transport monies together to get her to her foster home in South Wales.
Foster mum, Nina, says:
“Hope had been in foster with me for 3 weeks now, after 3 long years in a kill shelter. Those 3 hard years have not taken away her deep sweetness of nature. She's a just a delight with humans!
She's 6 years old on paper but there is so much resilience and energy when she wants it, she acts much younger. Her health appears excellent with pearly white teeth, 0% plaque, no sign of any joint issues (that usually show in UK lab- like dogs of that age) and plenty of energy when she wants to play. With Arnold she is fast and enjoys quite rough play (see video), loves playing tug with a rope toy with him and humans alike.
To humans, Hope is super gentle; snuffling your hand, just quietly waiting for fuss, but when she gets some and then you stop, there's that ever so gentle paw on your arm to say 'more please' over and over. When you finally have to move away, she just lies down and waits or goes for a potter in the garden or some play time with Arnold. She is not demanding or whiny at all, at times you hardly know she's there. I didn't hear her make a sound for most of the first week!
On a lead she can be a bit of a charger until she calms. Then she walks nicely (see video). She is strong though and a bit pig- headed, wanting to stop when she wants to sniff, and only moving on again when she's ready! When I road walked her she was always with Arnold and he could be reactive to other dogs on leads, so she also reacted too at those times. However, I've yet to see if she does the same solo.
Hope, like Arnold, takes food from your hand ever so gently and is quite happy for you to move her food bowl while eating. Both dogs have brilliant food habits!
Hope would be suitable for families, couples or singles alike, as long as they can handle her strong moments on a lead. Her nature is so gentle with people and her eyes are full of soulful love, you cannot help but want to sit and cuddle her.
So if you want a gentle dog with humans with a beautiful heart that shows every time you look in her eyes, plenty of energy but also the desire to laze for endless hours in the sun, Hope may be your perfect waiting soul dog.”
