🌟 BRUNO – LET’S GET THIS SWEET BOY HIS FOREVER HOME 🌟
Bruno was destined to die in a Romanian Kill shelter. His “crime” … he was simply unfortunate enough to be abandoned by those he trusted. Nothing more – nothing less. He’s still a baby … a life over before it had properly began. RACE is full to bursting with rescue dogs and we simply don’t have the capacity or the funds to rescue every single dog that needs help. But we weren’t prepared to stand by hopelessly and not even attempt to try something to help him
Thanks to the kindness of some of our supporters, the monies were raised to get Bruno safely to the UK where he was fostered by one of our wonderful adoptants who has helped us many times in the past. See below Anna’s little synopsis of Bruno since he has been with her.
(*** RACE does not place fosters from Romania into the UK while they are seeking homes as a routine. Bruno was an exceptional one off case where kind supporters contrinuted to his travel costs and one of our long term adoptants offered to foster him for us while he seeks his forever home. We do, however, always welcome UK based rescue back up fosters for dogs that are already in homes here and if their circumstances change. From Anna – Bruno’s foster mum:
“I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to foster and perhaps adopt Bruno, who is, possibly, the loveliest dog I’ve ever met.
As I write this little bio for him, so his new family can start getting to know him before they’ve even met, I am in bed, sitting up and lying against my pillows, with Bruno, firmly stretched across my lap, with his big head in the crook of my left arm.
He is the living personification of a teddy bear. 🧸
Yes, he is beautiful, but that is the very least of his finer qualities.
He is grateful for every kindness, he is so gentle, I cannot believe that such a big lad, can be so gentle with humans; he is completely obsessed with chicken… but even when he is so desperate to have it, he basically lets you pop it into his mouth, to make sure you don’t get hurt by his teeth!
If you want an independent dog that minds his own business, Bruno is not for you, if you want a dog to stay in the background, Bruno is not for you, if you are impatient, and expect dogs to understand the complexities of human life, without ever having been exposed to it, Bruno is not for you.
However, If you have a gentle soul, and long for a best friend, who wants to be involved in every element of your life, Bruno is for you; if you are kind and patient and find joy in teaching a young fellow the ways of the world, and introducing him to how wonderful it truly can be, with the right family… then Bruno is for you.
Bruno is a contrary little chap, because he is a big, hefty, laughably clumsy, lumbering oaf, who will fall into holes and fall off walls as though they were the only ways to navigate them. The contrary part is that he is also incredibly sensitive, if you have to ever correct him, he is desperate to please, so you must only ever use a gentle voice… he is visibly worried if he hears shouting.
Bruno is good to his very core, and he wants to be with you at all times. If you are gardening, he will be stuffing his big nose into your hand to see what tool you are holding, if you are digging a hole in your garden, he will go and stand in the hole, he is fascinated by anything and everything, which is obviously due to his horrific start in life, but he is now, just blossoming, as he starts to understand the world and his place in it.
Bruno needs to be cuddled, he would rather spend all of his time on your knee, by your side, or with your arms wrapped around him… I know most dogs don’t necessarily want to be that close, but Bruno is different, and is in heaven if you are cuddling him.
Bruno doesn’t make a fuss about anything, but he is playful, once you get to know him, he has just never had anybody to play with him and show him how it’s done… my husband has been playing with him while he’s been with us, and it always brings about the zoomies!
He desperately wants to be accepted as a family member, and you will need to show him this whenever you can, it settles his big heart.
I would absolutely have kept him, and still, as I write this, I’m not sure if it’s the correct decision, but my other little dog Dora, has taken an exception to him (even though, the other others get on well with him), and it’s creating too much stress for him.
I think he would like to be in a household with another dog, a little playmate for him, somebody who can show him how it all works, but more than that, he just needs “his person”, so he can finally, relax and fall in love with his future.”
