🧭 Why do we choose to be (or not to be) adult volunteers in the Scouting organization?
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, it’s easy to forget the “why.” That’s why our follow-up meeting after the “EduFacilitation 4.0 Erasmus+” training course with adult volunteers from the Cercetaşii României - Aventura Piteşti was more than just a meeting—it was an exercise in honesty and self-reflection.
The Erasmus+ adult training course, organized in the Czech Republic in April 2026 by Proactive Network at Kaprálův mlýn, focused on organizing a project dissemination meeting among partner organizations in Estonia, Hungary, Greece, Romania, Latvia, Spain, Portugal, and the Czech Republic 🇪 🇪 🇭🇺 🇬🇷 🇷🇴 🇱🇻 🇪🇸 🇵🇹 🇨🇿
So today, June 27, 2026, we brought up the uncomfortable but necessary questions: What is the real motivation that keeps us here? And, above all, what might make us hesitate?
The discussion was genuine, and the conclusions were clear:
✅ Internal (personal) benefits—the continuous development of leadership skills, increased self-confidence, a deep sense of belonging to a community that shares the same values, and friendships that transcend the boundaries of the uniform.
🌍 External (community) benefits – the visible impact we have on the children we mentor, our contribution to shaping responsible adults, and making a positive difference in the environment where we live, even through a small gesture.
In the end, each participant developed a personal plan using the Scout Compass—that tool that helps us guide our steps, set our direction, and make clear commitments for the future. We didn’t leave with just vague ideas, but with concrete, committed, and measurable actions.
Because authentic volunteering isn’t just about showing up and giving—it’s about knowing exactly why you’re doing it and where you’re headed.
Thank you to every volunteer for your openness, courage, and dedication! What motivates you most in your volunteer work? Let us know in the comments! 👇
