Our Cris Cross cultures project just had its first ever event🍂

Gekko Pub we made sure we mix some traditions and cultures together and made our community a big feast where we hosted people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds 🍽️🫂

The project may be over, but the memories definitely aren’t. 🌱 These are just a few of the moments that made Green-Volution what it was : the places, the people, the laughs, the conversations, and all the little things in between.

For 10 days in Velvento, Greece, we came together through this Erasmus+ Youth Exchange, with participants from Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Italy, sharing ideas, learning from each other and discovering new perspectives on sustainability and everyday choices. Somewhere between the workshops, cultural evenings and spontaneous moments, it became much more than just a project. It became about new friendships, stepping outside our comfort zones, sharing experiences and creating memories that will stay with us long after we left.

Grateful for the people, the lessons and all the moments in between. 💚 Until the next adventure!

From June 1 to July 17, 2026, I took part in a European Solidarity Corps volunteering project at the Tisza Lake Ecocentre in Poroszló, Hungary, together with four other volunteers.

My main responsibility was animal care, especially feeding a young stork, a hoopoe and a little owl several times a day. We also helped care for rabbits, goats, guinea pigs, hedgehogs and other animals by cleaning their enclosures, providing food and hay, and spending time with them. Besides this, we assisted visitors and worked closely with the Ecocentre staff.

One of my favorite memories was caring for a young stork that we named Herold. When we first met him, he was still very small, but he developed quickly during our stay. We were happy to learn that the staff and later volunteers continued using the name Herold after we left.

This experience taught me a lot about animal care, patience, teamwork and communication. I learned how important it is to ask for help when needed and gained a better understanding of the responsibility involved in caring for animals and protecting nature.

Did someone say “Sunset over Filiates”? Yes, and we didn’t just watch the sunset together in Greece with participants from Latvia, Romania and Greece, but also learned, connected and created unforgettable memories.

During the 10-day Erasmus+ Youth Exchange, we explored rural youth involvement, community life and intercultural learning, while taking part in interviews, discussions with local authorities, a forest clean-up and intercultural evenings where we got to learn about each other’s traditions!

So basically, we managed to combine the useful with the fun, because, at the end of the day, isn’t that what a youth exchange is all about? 💙

Would we come back? Definitely! See you next time! 👀🇬🇷

Looking back at our summer in Hortobágy, it’s incredible how much two weeks in the puszta can reshape your perspective. Taking part in our European Solidarity Corps project here felt like stepping into an entirely different world one rooted in quiet landscapes, raw nature, and hands-on conservation. 🌾✨
Our base was the Hortobágy Bird Hospital (Madárkórház), an inspiring sanctuary dedicated to treating and rehabilitating injured birds from all over Hungary. Working side by side with the hospital staff gave us a rare, unfiltered look into wildlife rehabilitation and daily sanctuary upkeep.

A glimpse into what our days looked like on the ground:
📍Daily bird care: Preparing specialized feed and refilling fresh water for dozens of recovering birds. 🥣
📍Sanctuary hygiene: Thoroughly scrubbing down, disinfecting, and maintaining the cages and enclosures to give every patient the best shot at recovery. 🧼
📍Facility upkeep: Picking up paintbrushes to coat and restore wooden slats, fencing, and shelter structures around the grounds. 🪵🎨
📍Unforgettable wildlife encounters: Getting up close with diverse native bird species including getting acquainted with the sanctuary’s famous talking crow! 🗣️🐦

We walked away with far more than just practical conservation skills. Being immersed in that environment taught us responsibility, teamwork, and genuine respect for wildlife rehab work.

Huge gratitude goes out to team at Hang-Kép Egyesület for coordinating this project and giving us the chance to contribute meaningfully. Special appreciation goes to our coordinators, Hajni and Pista your warmth, patience, and support made every day smooth, rewarding, and memorable. 💛🙌
This chapter in Hortobágy left an indelible mark, and the memories both wild and human will stay with us for years to come. 🕊️🌍

About the project

During the project, participants will take part in interactive workshops, outdoor activities, sustainability challenges, community actions, intercultural learning sessions and digital storytelling activities. Through

Everything is or can be a social business!
Or at least That's how the participants from Romania🇷🇴 feel after "You(th) Act(ive)!", this was a project hosted in Mórahalom Hungary between the 17th and 25th of August.

The participants realized that they can create an entrepreneurial opportunity very easily, the idea is to focus on the community.
They didn't just played with clay, played theater and explored the city they developed ideas, ambition and leadership skills, antreprenorial skills, empathy and most importantly confidence, these aptitudes made them grow, be aware and see the world from a new perspective.

We are thankful to MeOut for hosting this project and uniting so many amazing people from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Hungary, Moldova and Romania.
