AI, social media, and a future being shaped RIGHT NOW. What happened between June 20 - 27 at Democracy @ Risk? 🚀

The transition from a passive consumer of information to a resilient and informed digital citizen doesn’t happen by itself. It is built.

For one inspiring week, the Erasmus+ Democracy @ Risk project brought together young people ready to ask the tough questions and search for real solutions to the challenges of today’s digital world.

What was on the agenda?

⚠️ AI & Social Media Risks – learning how to navigate misinformation without falling into its traps.

⚛️ The Quantum Revolution – exploring what’s coming next and why we need to be prepared.

🗣️ Protecting Democracy – turning awareness into meaningful action.

And because great ideas also need room to breathe, we traded our screens for the mountains. An unforgettable hike to Morskie Oko gave us the perfect opportunity to recharge, connect, and create lasting memories together. 🏔️

A week full of inspiring discussions, new perspectives, and an incredible community of young people determined to make a difference.

From July 18 to July 26, 2026, we, the Romanian participants, together with those from Poland and Lithuania, during the project "Open Metaphors", developed our artistic side through theater and dance workshops that ended with a sensational show. We all learned pantomime and contemporary dance moves, things that required us to work as a team and synchronize with each other.

For me, it was a formative experience. I feel I grew on multiple levels, broadened my horizons by exchanging ideas with others, and stepped out of my comfort zone. During the cultural evenings I learnt many new things about the other countries.

What I can say with absolute certainty is that I met extraordinary, empathetic, and wise people here, people who will always hold a special place in my heart and I will always cherish. It would be wonderful to meet again someday.

I warmly recommend this kind of experience to anyone looking to try something interesting!

➡️ Participant profile: Youth workers interested in digital tools, non-formal education and creating safer and more inclusive activities for young people.

Learning Outcomes 🗣️
Participants will learn how to plan, deliver and evaluate safe, inclusive and engaging digital youth work activities.

They will practise fact-checking, source evaluation, safe online communication and the creation of ethical and accessible digital content.

Youth workers will improve their facilitation skills and learn more about data protection, digital well-being and accessible communication.

Participants will also contribute to creating the DICA Toolbox, a collection of ready-to-use digital youth work activities and resources. 💻🙌

The project brings together Romanian, Hungarian and Moldovan young people through activities focused on intercultural dialogue, inclusion and reducing stereotypes.

Join us in Hortobágy and help protect wildlife! 🦅🌱

The Hortobágy Bird Park and Bird Hospital are looking for motivated and ambitious young people who would like to contribute to nature conservation.

What could your tasks be?
• Maintaining the Bird Park area: cutting grass (large territory), planting new trees or bushes, painting wooden gates, fences and bike stands, cleaning and repainting recovery rooms, and building walking paths in the park 🌿

• Helping with the recovery of injured birds: feeding small birds four times a day, assisting with examination preparation, moving birds between cages, and releasing birds back into nature 🐦

• Supporting the foundation’s social media activities: taking photos and videos, helping the local community with environmental or community-focused mini-projects, and organizing solidarity activities 📸🤝

Ahead of the exchange, each national group
receives the task of designing and facilitating one thematic workshop:

such as formal, non-formal and informal
education;

carbon footprint and the 3R rules;

community environmental needs mapping;

public speaking and storytelling;

the argumentation lab;

or the design of environmental awareness campaigns, while all participants complete a common preparatory task of researching and presenting the environmental realities and challenges of their own communities.🫂

My name is Maria, and I participated in the Erasmus project Agriculture 6 in Slovenia.🇸🇮 🌾

For me, this was my very first Erasmus experience, and I can honestly say that it has been the most beautiful experience of my life so far. The memories will always stay in my heart, and the people I met are truly wonderful. 📸 I sincerely hope we will meet again someday. The organizing team in Ormož was extremely well-prepared and did an amazing job.

We took part in many interesting activities that helped us get to know ourselves better. ✨We also learned how to start a small business in agriculture and explored many other valuable topics. The cultural evenings were unforgettable, and every team put in a lot of effort to make them special.

I felt amazing throughout this project, and I am truly grateful for this incredible experience!❤️
