🇪🇺🤝🇷🇴 SIDEPOL National Council 2026 | Saturn | 03–06 September
We were pleased to welcome EuroCOP President Roberto García González to the proceedings of the SIDEPOL National Council. Roberto is a police officer in Catalonia and a trade union leader within FSC-CCOO.
His participation reaffirmed the strong relationship between SIDEPOL and the EuroCOP family, as well as our shared commitment to promoting key objectives for the policing profession: the recognition of policing as a High-Risk Profession, the recognition of assaults against police officers as a Eurocrime, improved working conditions, and access to modern protective and operational equipment.
These priorities were also promoted during the Police Intergroup meeting at the European Parliament, attended by EuroCOP representatives and Adrian Ilie, Secretary General of SIDEPOL and FSDR. Actively involved in advancing these objectives and other important projects for police officers is also Cristian Glodean, SIDEPOL First Vice-President, President of the SIDEPOL Dolj Branch, and Vice-President of the Federation of Democratic Trade Unions of Romania (FSDR).
SIDEPOL will also continue its efforts to expand the deployment of Taser devices within the Romanian Police, in line with European best practices regarding officer safety and operational protection. At the same time, our organisation will continue promoting the D.M.I.O.P. project (Mobile Public Order Intervention Detachment), inspired by operational models used by units such as UIP/UPR in Spain, BRIMO and ARRO in Catalonia, TSG in the United Kingdom, and YMET and MAT in Greece, adapted to the current needs of the Romanian Police and today’s operational challenges.
SIDEPOL is proud to be part of the EuroCOP family, an organisation that demonstrates that, beyond borders, European police officers share the same values, challenges, and responsibilities.
