This week Ankara hosted the second edition of the signature joint event of the Society of Construction Law Türkiye and Society of Construction Law Romania - “From Investment to Dispute Resolution: Türkiye - Romania Conference”.
Kindly supported and hosted by the Türkiye Müteahhitler Birliği / Turkish Contractors Association, the event brought together proeminent figures of international construction and arbitration community like Sercan Kulaksizogullari, Magdalena Ghioca, Serin Geambazu, Florin Niculescu, Turgut Aycan Özcan, Basar Sahin, Petru Nicolae, Giovanni Di Folco, Silviu Munteanu, PhD., Alper Sabuncuoğlu, Ekrem Kaya, Matei PURICE, Angelica Boca, Bilge Müftüoğlu and Idil Kurt Bozoglu, which generously shared their valuable experiences and insights regarding topical issues such as the opportunities and challenges of bilateral investments and the Bilateral Investments Treaty concluded between Türkiye and Romania, the particularities of joint ventures, public tenders, and public contracts under the Romanian Law, the global impact of recent conflicts upon construction contracts’ performance and their economic rebalancing, the lessons learned form the use of AI in preparing expert reports, as well as the role of Turkish interim injunctions in disputes between contractors and their subcontractors.
The engaging exchange of ideas was complemented by the distinguished opening remarks of M. Erdal Eren (Turkish Contractors Association's President), Doru Liciu (Romanian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires), Yasemin Çetinel (SCL Türkiye's President), and Razvan Rugina (SCL Romania's President).
