ia și din întreaga lume. Avem convingerea că indiferent de motivele pentru care este inițiat sau continuat, războiul nu reprezintă niciodată o soluție. El neagă prin însăși esența sa drepturile și libertățile oamenilor: dreptul de a nu fi ucis ca victimă colaterală și dreptul de a nu ucide, dreptul de a nu distruge propria țară sau pe a altora. Dreptul nostru și în special dreptul copiilor și al tinerei generații de a trăi în libertate și siguranță, fără anxietatea escaladării nucleare, de a respira un aer nepoluat de explozii, de a păși cu încredere pe un teren necontaminat de mine. Solicităm înghețarea imediată a tuturor conflictelor armate și (re)începerea negocierilor de pace și ne propunem să participăm la eforturile naționale și internaționale pentru promovarea păcii și soluționarea nonviolentă a conflictelor.

A single girl started a movement. After 11-year-old Sadako Sasaki was diagnosed with radiation-induced leukemia a decade after the bombing in Hiroshima, she attempted to fold 1,000 paper cranes in the hopes that her wish to live would be granted.

While Sadako did not survive, her legacy of paper cranes did, inspiring her classmates, and then the world, with a message of peace, hope, and resilience. Today, people all around the world fold cranes in her honor.

Join the folding of a crane to honor Sadako Sasaki and all the children impacted by conflicts they didn’t create. Every child deserves to live free of the threat of nuclear weapons.
