Major Belgian investment in Iași: mateco inaugurates a new operational headquarters and announces the modernization of its national network
IAȘI, May 2026 – mateco, the leading provider of aerial working platforms in Romania, is consolidating its presence in the Moldavia region by inaugurating a new operational headquarters in Iași. This step represents more than a simple move to a new building: it is an investment built from scratch, aligning local operations with the most demanding international standards of the Belgian-owned group. Furthermore, Iași thus becomes ground zero for an ambitious plan to modernize the entire mateco network in Romania.
A strong signal of confidence from the Belgian shareholders
To mark this milestone, the mateco team opened the doors of the new headquarters during an Open Day event, designed to bring together entrepreneurs from the Moldavia region, commercial partners, and international suppliers.
The strategic importance of the Romanian market was reconfirmed by the presence of the group's executive management at the event. Pascal Vanhalst, owner of the mateco group and a respected figure in the Belgian business community, attended alongside Anthony Pille, mateco's Director for Eastern Europe. Their presence in Iași highlighted the company's long-term commitment to investing in operational excellence and team development in Romania.
Beyond the networking component, the event included tours of the new headquarters. Guests were presented the stages of the rental process, as well as the new logistical workflows, the processes involved in managing the equipment fleet, and the new technical facility.
"The Moldavia region is undergoing continuous development, and we felt the need to keep pace with the dynamics of our partners here. Moving operations in Iași to a facility that meets international standards was the natural and necessary next step. Concretely, for our clients, this means we will move faster, processes will be safer, and the technical solutions we provide will perfectly match the scale and needs of their construction sites." - Cristian Hiver, General Manager of mateco Romania
Iași is just the beginning: What's next for the network?
The new hub in Iași serves as a model of best practices, designed to be gradually replicated across the country. The next cities on the modernization roadmap are Cluj-Napoca, Brașov, and Constanța. The ultimate goal is for all 11 branches operated by mateco in Romania to be aligned with this modern and efficient format.
About mateco
