On September 17th we organized the last event of the year. We took part in the and watched . A basic income is a form of welfare where a sun of money is directly transferred to individuals with no strings attached. Evidence shows this might be a surprisingly cheap and effective way to alleviate poverty, although more research is needed before implementing such a policy in a large scale. The Introductory EA Program is one of the best ways to get familiarized with the EA philosophy. It only consumes about 3.5h per week (1.5h meeting + 2h readings), so it can easily be reconciled with work and studies. If you complete the program, you’ll be eligible to volunteer at EA Romania. In our last meetup, hosted by our volunteer Horia, we invited Bahman Rahmatian to talk about the Baha’i faith and how it relates to EA. This choice of topic was part of our effort to do outreach towards different communities and explore ways in which our philosophies may overlap. EA is a secular movement that values science and rationality, but we also recognize the power of religion when it comes to motivating people to do good. Thank you all for coming!

The introductory program is probably the best way to learn the basics about EA. It is an 8-week crash course that only consumes about 3.5h per week (2h readings + 1.5h live session). If you want to be a volunteer at EA Romania, our only requirement is that you complete this course. Click the link below to learn more and make sure to apply before the deadline on Sunday!

Guided by a facilitator, you'll gain access to curated materials and practical exercises to help you have a greater impact.
