📍 Bucharest, Romania
On November 25, 2024, we had the honor to participate in the Final European Conference of the RECup Project, marking the culmination of two years of collaboration, dialogue, and civic action across Europe.

💻 The theme? “e-Participation and e-Decision Making as a Tool for Unemployed Citizens’ Participation” - a timely and powerful reflection on how digital tools can shape more inclusive and responsive employment policies in the EU.

🌐 Highlights of this milestone event included:
🗝️ Keynotes on digital transformation, inclusion, and democracy
🛠️ Hands-on workshops exploring practical tools for e-Participation
💬 Policy discussions on AI, transparency, digital literacy & access
📊 Inspiring case studies of successful digital citizen engagement from across Europe
🤝 Networking sessions fostering new ideas and future collaboration

From digital barriers to policy innovation, the conference offered real solutions to ensure that unemployed citizens are not just heard, but empowered to co-create the policies that affect them.

This was more than a closing event - it was a launchpad for future action on digital democracy, equity, and civic engagement.

🌟 The RECup Project may be wrapping up, but the mission continues: to build a Europe where every citizen has a voice - online and offline.

Unemployment took center stage in Thessaloniki as we participated in the final event of the RECup Project:
“Citizens Manifesto Brings Unemployment to the Heart of Europe” – part of the CERV-2022-CITIZENS-TOWN programme.

From November 11 to 13, unemployed citizens, local authorities, trade unions, educators, and civil society voices came together to confront one of Europe’s most pressing challenges — unemployment — through civic participation and collaborative policymaking.

✨ What made this event stand out?

💡 A powerful panel exploring unemployment as a European policy issue
🧪 A hands-on Blended Laboratory Workshop where we co-created the Citizens Manifesto on employment, teleworking & EU labor rights
🗣️ A moving roundtable where unemployed citizens shared their personal stories
💻 Sessions on e-Democracy tools for transparent, inclusive employment policies
📜 The official presentation of the Citizens Manifesto - a grassroots document calling for change across Europe

The energy was real. The stories were honest. The impact? Ongoing.

This was not just a conference - it was a statement. The Citizens Manifesto gives voice to those too often left out of policy conversations. We’re proud to have contributed and to continue pushing for fairer, citizen-driven employment policies at every level.

Just returned from the vibrant village of Għarb, Malta, where we took part in the RECup Project’s latest workshop:
“Participatory Citizenship through Exchanging Good Practices” (October 24–27, 2024) — part of the CERV-2022-CITIZENS-TOWN programme.

Over the course of three impactful days, unemployed citizens, community stakeholders, and partners from across Europe came together to exchange ideas, build solutions, and explore new pathways to inclusive and participatory democracy.

🗓 Highlights from the event included:
🌍 Inspiring presentations from Malta 🇲🇹, Romania 🇷🇴, Croatia 🇭🇷, and Slovenia 🇸🇮 on national approaches to civic engagement
🗣️ Debate forums and workshops on citizen-local authority collaboration
🏛️ A visit to the local council to experience inclusive governance in action
🧠 Hands-on sessions developing action plans for overcoming barriers to participation
🤝 Informal networking moments that sparked fresh partnerships and friendships

From grassroots initiatives to national policies, we explored what it means to truly engage citizens in shaping the future of Europe — and how to make that engagement accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstance.

This workshop wasn’t just about good practices. It was about connection, empowerment, and collective vision. We leave Malta recharged, informed, and ready to keep building democratic spaces that leave no one behind.

From September 19 to 21, we took part in a powerful and thought-provoking event under the RECup Project:
Participatory Seminar – “Compacting Poverty and Unemployment through Activation in Europe”, part of the
CERV-2022-CITIZENS-TOWN programme.

Experts, policymakers, and civil society actors from across Europe came together to explore the deeper roots of poverty and unemployment—and how civic participation and digital engagement can be part of the solution.

🖥️ We explored how e-consultation and e-initiatives are giving citizens real tools to shape employment and social policy.
🤝 The discussions went beyond theory, focusing on practical solutions: digital upskilling, social entrepreneurship, and activation strategies tailored to post-COVID realities.

💡 Highlights included:
📌 A seminar led by A.S.E.L. RO on compacting poverty through civic activation
📌 Country-by-country analysis of digital engagement strategies
📌 Workshops and roundtables developing action plans for employment and inclusion
📌 A study visit to local EU-funded projects showing success in workforce integration

This event showed that unemployment is not just an economic challenge—it’s a civic one. Through shared knowledge and cooperation, we can build more inclusive, empowered communities across Europe.
