Everything has a first time…

But we never imagined that this first time would be something so heartbreaking.

For the first time in many years, we have been unable to place the food order for our dogs.

We are still missing approximately 700 EUR, and the order must be placed no later than Monday. Until then, we are trying to buy time however we can. We are reducing portions, stretching every bag of food as much as possible, and hoping that we can raise the remaining amount.

It is difficult to describe how this feels. For many of our dogs, mealtime is the only joy they have in their day. They do not have a family, a home, or a warm couch to sleep on. All they have is the shelter and the care we provide.

And now we find ourselves in the painful position of having to reduce even that small comfort.

It is heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking.

❤️ UPDATE – THE CHAINED AND ABANDONED MOTHER DOG ❤️

We finally have some good news. After her emergency surgery and everything she has been through, this sweet girl is slowly recovering. She has started eating again, is becoming more alert every day, and most importantly, she is taking wonderful care of her surviving puppies. ❤️

Despite all the suffering she endured, she continues to fight for them, and we admire her strength every single day.

At the same time, we cannot ignore reality. These are difficult times, and without food we simply cannot continue helping the hundreds of animals that depend on us.

We still need 837 EUR to fully cover our current food order.

🚨 WE ARE COMPLETELY DESPERATE. 🚨

We no longer know what to write. We no longer know how to explain that we simply cannot keep up anymore.

As many of you know, we urgently need to place our food order tomorrow so that it can be delivered next week. We need 4 pallets of food for the dogs in our care.

The reality is heartbreaking: at this moment, we do not even have enough funds for the first pallet. We are still missing approximately 70 EUR just to secure a single pallet of food.

And unfortunately, food is no longer our only problem.

Yesterday, we were unable to take in the two remaining dogs left chained after their owner passed away. Not because we did not want to help. Not because we do not care. But because we simply no longer have the resources.

One of the dogs we already rescued from that property was diagnosed with Ehrlichiosis. The two remaining dogs urgently need PCR testing and further medical investigations before we can even begin treatment. The donations received yesterday, approximately 180 EUR, are not enough to fully diagnose them, let alone cover treatment, hospitalization, medication, and additional examinations.

And while we were desperately trying to find a solution for them, another emergency appeared.

Last night, we received a desperate call about a pregnant dog abandoned near an old livestock farm outside Botoșani. Someone had tied her to a fence and left her there to die.

No water. No food. No shelter.

Most likely because of the extreme stress and her condition, she managed to deliver only two live puppies. Two other puppies remained inside her body and she could no longer give birth to them. We do not know how long she had been left there. The puppies were only a few hours old when she was found.

She was severely dehydrated and in critical condition. We had no choice but to take her in immediately. She was rushed into emergency surgery to remove the deceased puppies that remained inside her uterus.

That means more medical costs. More tests. More treatment. More bills.

And honestly… we no longer know what to do.

Every day brings new emergencies, new abandoned animals, and new medical cases. We are doing everything we can, but we have reached a point where the needs are far greater than our resources.

Right now, we do not even have enough money to secure one pallet of food for the dogs already depending on us. We are still missing 70 EUR just for that first pallet.

She is one of the three dogs still living on a chain after their owner passed away.

Many of you remember their story. We managed to rescue only one of the dogs, while the other three remained behind, surviving thanks to the kindness of neighbors and the little help we can provide until we are able to bring them to safety.

She is perhaps the one we are most worried about. She is most likely paralyzed in her hind legs and cannot even give birth naturally. Before we can make any decisions regarding her future, she urgently needs medical examinations and testing.

Just look at her. Hidden beneath a piece of tarp, chained up, not knowing whether tomorrow will be any different from yesterday. She asks for nothing. She doesn’t complain. She simply waits.

We had hoped to reach them today and begin bringing them into our care, but unfortunately we have had to postpone the operation until tomorrow.

At the moment, we have not managed to raise enough funds to cover even the Mediterranean disease testing for one dog, let alone all of them. Before we can safely take them in, we need to know exactly what medical conditions we may be facing.

Many of you probably remember the case of the three dogs who were left chained up after their owner passed away. At the time, we were only able to take one of them, while food was left for the others and kind neighbors continued to care for them as best they could.

The first photos show the dog we managed to rescue. In just a few weeks, his transformation has been incredible. When he arrived, he was in very poor condition and was diagnosed with both Babesia and Ehrlichia, two serious tick-borne diseases. After treatment and proper care, he is now a completely different dog.

Sadly, the news about the other two dogs is not good.

This morning, the woman who brings them food every day called us. One of the dogs is now paralyzed and can no longer use her hind legs. We cannot leave her there. No animal deserves to live like that.

The problem is that both dogs need to be rescued, examined, and tested for tick-borne diseases. In the case of Ehrlichia, the only way to obtain a reliable diagnosis is through a PCR test, which costs approximately €200 for a single dog. On top of that come deworming treatments, vaccinations, additional diagnostics, and any medical care they may require.

Under normal circumstances, we would not hesitate. We would take them immediately.

But right now, we are facing a very difficult situation. It is Wednesday, and this week we must place our monthly food order for the shelter. During the summer months, consumption is lower and we need “only” four pallets of food per month, with 66 bags on each pallet. Unfortunately, although we posted our appeal for food two days ago, we have not yet managed to raise enough funds for even a single pallet.

We honestly do not know how to proceed. Food for the hundreds of animals already in our care must remain our priority, but at the same time we know these two dogs urgently need help.

Rita – a small update ❤️

Many of you have been waiting for an update about Rita, so here it is.

Unfortunately, her surgery could not be scheduled this week because her blood test results were not as good as we had hoped. For now, Rita is receiving treatment and supplements to help improve her condition and give her the best possible chance before surgery.

If everything goes according to plan, her operation will be scheduled for next week.

Hundreds of dogs depend on you. ❤️🐾

We do not like asking for help. In fact, every time we write a post like this, we hope we will find another solution. Unfortunately, this time there isn’t one.

This week, we must place the food order for our shelter, and we need 4 pallets of dog food — a total of 264 bags.

For a shelter caring for so many animals, food is not optional. It cannot be postponed. It cannot be reduced. The dogs must be fed every single day, whether donations are coming in or not.

Over the past weeks, we have felt the impact of declining donations more and more, and honestly, we are afraid we will not be able to cover this order without your help.
