The Next Bear Cub: Făgărășanul 🐻 (RO, HU👇)

👉This little male cub was discovered by a woman hiking along the breathtaking trails of the Făgăraș Mountains. Apparently, the cub had fallen from a rocky scree slope, suffering serious injuries and severe mobility problems. It is likely that he hit his head during the fall. Fortunately, the person who found him was a true animal lover and immediately alerted the relevant authorities, who acted quickly to rescue the young bear. After spending a few days receiving treatment and care at a local veterinary clinic, the cub was transferred to Bear Again.

Although he still showed signs of impaired motor coordination when he arrived, he quickly integrated into the bear gang at the Center. With proper care, the support of a natural environment, and his own strong survival instincts, his body began to recover at an impressive pace. Today, Făgărășanul stands as yet another reminder that when nature is given a chance, it possesses an extraordinary ability to heal.

👉Micuțul mascul a fost descoperit de o doamnă aflată într-o drumeție pe potecile spectaculoase ale Munților Făgăraș. Din câte se pare, ursulețul căzuse de pe un grohotiș stâncos, suferind răni serioase și prezentând dificultăți locomotorii evidente. Cel mai probabil, în timpul căzăturii s-a lovit la cap. Din fericire, persoana care l-a găsit s-a dovedit a fi o adevărată iubitoare de animale și a alertat imediat autoritățile competente, care au intervenit prompt pentru salvarea puiului. După câteva zile de îngrijiri și tratament într-un cabinet veterinar local, micuțul a ajuns la Bear Again.

Deși la sosire încă prezenta semne de afectare a coordonării motorii, s-a integrat rapid în gașca de urși de la Centru. Cu ajutorul îngrijirii primite, al mediului natural și al instinctelor sale puternice de supraviețuire, organismul lui a început să se refacă într-un ritm impresionant. Astăzi, Făgărășanul este încă o dovadă că natura, atunci când primește o șansă, are o capacitate extraordinară de vindecare.

👉A kis hím bocsot egy hölgy találta meg, aki a Fogarasi-havasok lenyűgöző ösvényein túrázott. A bocs egy sziklás kőtörmelékes lejtőről zuhant le, súlyos sérüléseket szenvedett, és egyértelmű mozgási nehézségeket mutatott. Nagy valószínűséggel a zuhanás során beütötte a fejét.

Szerencsére a megtaláló valódi állatbarátnak bizonyult, és azonnal értesít***e az illetékes hatóságokat, amelyek gyorsan közbeléptek a bocs megmentése érdekében. Néhány napnyi ápolás és kezelés után egy helyi állatorvosi rendelőben a kis medve a Bear Again központba került.

Bár érkezésekor még mindig mutatkozott nála a mozgáskoordináció zavarának néhány jele, gyorsan beilleszkedett a központ medvecsapatába. A gondoskodásnak, a természetes környezetnek és erős túlélési ösztöneinek köszönhetően szervezete lenyűgöző ütemben kezdett regenerálódni.

Ma Făgărășanul újabb bizonyítéka annak, hogy a természet – ha esélyt kap – rendkívüli gyógyulási képességgel rendelkezik.

👉The Bear Again team is in the middle of a busy season—a time when more and more bear cubs come into our care. It’s not something we celebrate, as each case carries its own sadness. Still, we do everything we can to offer them a real chance at a future that leads back to life in the wild.

The latest two cubs were found near a military shooting range in the Odorheiu Secuiesc area, Harghita County. These facilities are often located in forested valleys, creating what seems like an ideal habitat for wildlife. There, a mother bear had been peacefully raising her two cubs in the dense vegetation along the edge of the range.

That peace was suddenly shattered by deafening explosions: the army conducted an extensive training exercise, including the use of heavy ammunition. The activity lasted for more than a week. After several days of continuous stress, the mother’s survival instinct drove her to leave the area. The cubs were left behind.
Hungry and disoriented, they began to explore their surroundings. The soldiers observed them for several days, hoping the mother would return. When it became clear she would not, they contacted the Târnava Mare Hunting Association, whose team quickly intervened to rescue the cubs.

Yet another example of how human activity can deeply impact the natural course of wildlife. Bears do not complain like humans—they adapt. But sometimes this adaptation does not align with our expectations, and the outcome is often perceived by society as a “problem.”

👉Gașca Bear Again este în plin sezon – o perioadă în care puii de urs ajung tot mai des în grija noastră. Nu este un motiv de bucurie, pentru că fiecare caz poartă în sine o poveste tristă. Cu toate acestea, facem tot posibilul să le oferim o șansă reală la un viitor care să ducă, în cele din urmă, spre viața în libertate.

Următorii doi pui au fost găsiți în apropierea unui poligon de tragere al armatei din zona Odorheiu Secuiesc, județul Harghita. Astfel de facilități sunt adesea amplasate în văi împădurite, oferind un habitat aparent ideal pentru fauna sălbatică. Acolo, o ursoaică își creștea liniștită cei doi pui, în desișul de la marginea poligonului.

Liniștea a fost însă spulberată brusc de zgomote asurzitoare: armata a desfășurat o amplă campanie de exerciții de tragere, inclusiv cu muniție grea. Acțiunea a durat mai bine de o săptămână. După câteva zile de stres continuu, instinctul de supraviețuire al mamei a determinat-o să părăsească zona. Puii au rămas singuri.
Flămânzi și dezorientați, au început să exploreze împrejurimile. Militarii i-au observat timp de mai multe zile, sperând că mama se va întoarce. Când a devenit clar că acest lucru nu se va întâmpla, au alertat Asociația de Vânători Târnava Mare, care a intervenit prompt pentru salvarea lor.

Încă un exemplu în care intervenția umană lasă urme adânci asupra cursului natural al vieții sălbatice. Urșii nu se plâng, așa cm o fac oamenii – ei se adaptează. Însă această adaptare nu se aliniază întotdeauna cu așteptările noastre, iar rezultatul este adesea perceput de societate ca o „problemă”.

👉A Bear Again csapata épp a szezon közepén jár – ez az az időszak, amikor egyre több medvebocs kerül a gondozásunkba. Ez nem örömre ad okot, mert minden egyes eset egy szomorú történetet rejt. Ennek ellenére mindent megteszünk, hogy valódi esélyt adjunk nekik egy olyan jövőre, amely végül a szabad élethez vezet.

A következő két bocsot egy katonai lőtér közelében találták, Székelyudvarhely környékén, Hargita megyében. Az ilyen létesítmények gyakran erdős völgyekben helyezkednek el, látszólag ideális élőhelyet biztosítva a vadon élő állatok számára. Ott egy anyamedve nyugodtan nevelte két bocsát, a lőtér szélén lévő sűrű növényzetben.

A nyugalmat azonban hirtelen fülsiketítő zajok törték meg: a hadsereg nagyszabású lőgyakorlatot tartott, beleértve nehézfegyverzet használatát is. Az akció több mint egy hétig tartott. Néhány nap folyamatos stressz után az anya túlélési ösztöne arra készt***e, hogy elhagyja a területet. A bocsok egyedül maradtak.

Éhesen és zavartan elkezdték felfedezni a környéket. A katonák több napon át figyelték őket, remélve, hogy az anyjuk visszatér. Amikor világossá vált, hogy ez nem fog megtörténni, értesítették a Târnava Mare Vadászegyesületet, amely gyorsan közbelépett a megmentésük érdekében.

Ez is egy újabb példa arra, hogy az emberi beavatkozás mély nyomokat hagy a vadon élő élet természetes alakulásában. A medvék nem panaszkodnak úgy, mint az emberek – alkalmazkodnak. Ez az alkalmazkodás azonban nem mindig felel meg a mi elvárásainknak, és az eredményt a társadalom gyakran „problémaként” érzékeli.

🐾The first day of April brought a new member to Bear Again🐻 (RO,HU👇)

👉The little male cub was found alone in the forest by a ranger in Prahova County, on an area managed by the Faculty of Forestry in Brașov.

The rescuer monitored him for several days, hoping his mother would return. Unfortunately, she never did, for unknown reasons. Once it became clear that the cub was truly orphaned, the authorities were notified, and he was brought into our care.

It didn’t take long for him to become friends with the first inhabitant of the center.

Salvatorul l-a monitorizat timp de câteva zile, sperând că mama lui va reveni. Din păcate, aceasta nu a mai apărut, din motive necunoscute. După ce s-a convins că puiul este cu adevărat orfan, a anunțat autoritățile competente, iar ursulețul a ajuns în grija noastră.

Nu a durat mult până s-a împrietenit cu primul pui sosit în acest sezon în centru.

👉A kis hím bocsot egy erdész találta egyedül az erdőben, Prahova megyében, a Brassói Erdészet által kezelt vadászterületen.

A megtaláló több napon keresztül figyelte, abban bízva, hogy az anyja visszatér. Sajnos ismeretlen okokból nem jelent meg. Miután megbizonyosodott róla, hogy a bocs valóban árva, értesít***e az illetékes hatóságokat, így a kis medve a mi gondozásunkba került.

Nem telt el sok idő, és máris összebarátkozott az idei szezon elsőként érkezett bocsával a központban.

🐾Spring was not yet on the horizon when the first orphan already appeared🐻 (RO, HU 👇)

👉In January, in the heart of winter, a new-born bear cub was saved from dogs in Mureș county. There were three cubs, born to a young, small-sized female. Two were killed within seconds. The third was saved in time.

He was quickly taken over by the Vets4Wild Romania and the Milvus Group team in Târgu Mureș, where veterinarian Dr.Borka-Vitalis Levente fought to bring him back to life and get him feeding. After a month of recovery, the cub was transferred to Bear Again, where his development became remarkable, gaining weight and strength week by week.🙏

✨The birth of a bear cub is a true natural miracle. Through a process called delayed implantation, the embryo develops only if the mother has accumulated enough reserves for winter. Cubs are born in the den, in mid-winter, extremely vulnerable: blind, hairless, and weighing only about 500 grams. The mother’s milk, rich in nutrients, allows rapid growth, while she does not eat or drink, relying entirely on her fat reserves and losing up to 40% of her body weight.

In the first months, the cubs are completely dependent, and their survival relies on a perfect biological balance and the mother’s total care. By spring, they grow strong enough to leave the den and face the world.
In the wild, however, this balance is fragile. Sometimes, human intervention makes the difference between life and death.

🐾Primăvara încă nici nu s-a arătat prin nămeții de zăpadă, când primul orfan a apărut deja la orizont🐻

👉În luna ianuarie, în plină iarnă, un ursuleț abia născut a fost salvat din gura câinilor în apropierea unei gospodării dintr-un sat mureșean. Erau trei pui ai unei ursoaice tinere. Doi au fost uciși în câteva secunde. Al treilea a fost salvat la timp.

A fost preluat rapid de echipa Vets4Wild și Milvus Group din Târgu Mureș, iar medicul veterinar Dr. Borka-Vitalis Levente a dus o luptă dificilă pentru a-l readuce la viață și a-l face să se hrănească. După o lună de recuperare, puiul a ajuns la Bear Again, unde dezvoltarea lui a devenit spectaculoasă, câștigând săptămânal în greutate și forță.🙏

✨Nașterea unui pui de urs este un miracol al naturii. Prin fenomenul de „implantare întârziată”, embrionul se dezvoltă doar după ce ursoaica are suficiente rezerve pentru iarnă. Puii se nasc în bârlog, în mijlocul iernii, extrem de vulnerabili: orbi, fără păr, cântărind doar aproximativ 500 de grame. Laptele matern, extrem de bogat în nutrienți, le permite să crească rapid, în timp ce mama nu mănâncă, nu bea și își consumă propriile rezerve, pierzând până la 40% din greutatea corporală.

În primele luni, puii sunt complet dependenți, iar supraviețuirea lor depinde de un echilibru biologic perfect și de grija absolută a mamei. Până la primăvară, cresc suficient pentru a ieși din bârlog și a descoperi lumea.
În natură, însă, acest echilibru este fragil. Uneori, intervenția omului face diferența dintre viață și moarte.

👉Januárban, a tél kellős közepén egy alig megszületett medvebocsot ment***ek ki a kutyák szájából egy Maros megyei falu közelében. Egy fiatal anyamedvének három bocsa volt. Kettőt néhány másodperc alatt megöltek. A harmadikat időben sikerült megmenteni.

Gyorsan a marosvásárhelyi Vets4Wild és a Milvus Group csapatához került, és Dr. Borka-Vitalis Levente állatorvos kemény küzdelmet folytatott azért, hogy visszahozza az életbe és táplálkozásra bírja. Egy hónapos rehabilitáció után a bocs a Bear Again központba került, ahol fejlődése látványossá vált: hétről hétre gyarapodott súlyban és erőben.

✨Egy medvebocs születése a természet csodája. Az úgynevezett „késleltetett beágyazódás” jelensége révén az embrió csak akkor kezd fejlődni, amikor az anyamedve elegendő tartalékot halmoz fel a télre. A bocsok a barlangban, a tél közepén születnek, rendkívül kiszolgáltatottan: vakon, szőr nélkül, mindössze körülbelül 500 grammos súllyal. Az anyatej, amely rendkívül gazdag tápanyagokban, lehetővé teszi számukra a gyors növekedést, miközben az anya nem eszik, nem iszik, és saját tartalékait használja fel, testsúlyának akár 40%-át is elveszítve.

Az első hónapokban a bocsok teljesen kiszolgáltatottak, túlélésük a tökéletes biológiai egyensúlytól és az anya teljes gondoskodásától függ. Tavaszra már eléggé megerősödnek ahhoz, hogy elhagyják a barlangot és felfedezzék a világot.

🐻 Și în acest an suntem alături de Bear Again Rehabilitation Center for Orphan Bears, pentru a sprijini ursuleții orfani să aibă o viață normală în sălbăticie.

Orfelinatul de urși din Munții Hășmaș este un loc unic în Europa, care folosește propriile metode de reabilitare pentru puii de urs rămași fără mamă. Aici, micuții primesc șansa de a reveni în sălbăticie, după o perioadă de reabilitare care poate dura chiar și până la 2 ani.

Unul dintre puii îngrijiți acum vine din județul Mureș și este unicul supraviețuitor din familia lui. După ce a primit îngrijiri veterinare și a fost suficient de puternic, a ajuns în grija orfelinatului.

În acest moment, puiuțul este hrănit cu biberonul, pentru că încă nu poate mânca singur. Dar procesul de reabilitare presupune trecerea la hrana granulată cât de repede posibil, pentru un contant uman minim, astfel încât să nu se obișnuiască cu prezența umană și să poată fi eliberat atunci când va fi pregătit.

De Ziua Mondială a Ursului, ne amintim cât de important este să protejăm animalele sălbatice și pe cei care luptă zilnic pentru ele. Mulțumim specialiștilor care își dedică timpul, energia și pasiunea pentru conservarea naturii și a vieții sălbatice. 🐾💚🐻

🤍The New Year has just started, and we are happy to share some wonderful news:
Bear Again has once again received financial support from Welttierschutzgesellschaft - WTG e.V., the German animal welfare organization, which will cover approximately one quarter of our expenses this year.

WTG has been supporting our work for four years now, contributing greatly to the development of our project — from improving our electrical system and installing remote cameras in the rehabilitation facilities, to providing an e-bike for daily mobility and GPS collars.

This year, their support continues with an even more substantial contribution, helping us to work smoothly and effectively for the benefit of a new generation of orphaned bear cubs on their way back to freedom.

Global warming or not, it is certain that winter has arrived late in recent years🧐 (RO, HU 👇)

Even this season, until Christmas temperatures did not drop drastically, and the forest did not dress itself in white.

👉Nevertheless, the little bears are preparing for their long sleep, even if they did not learn this from their mother. Preparing the den for winter is an innate instinct triggered by several factors, the most important being the decrease in daylight hours synchronized with the drop in ambient temperature. Their fur is very dense, and they have accumulated a layer of fat that will provide them with energy over the course of several months. 🐻❄️

They dig several dens, from which they will choose one. Sometimes the work begins with a single individual, with the rest of the group joining later. After reaching sufficient depth, the den is lined with fir branches and dry grass. Everything begins as a game, but inner instincts carve their way toward outward manifestation, and the result is always a hidden, well-arranged nest. 🌿🕳️

Winter sleep, or in other words ursid hibernation, is a unique phenomenon in the animal world. It ensures survival under marginal living conditions, making the bear a master of adaptation in a solitary way of life—a level of adaptation that even humans manage to achieve only in groups, through close cooperation with their fellow beings. 🤝🌍

Încălzire globală sau nu, cert este că iarna a sosit cu întârziere în ultimii ani🧐

Nici în acest sezon, până la crăciun temperaturile nu au scăzut drastic și nici pădurea nu s-a îmbrăcat în alb.

👉Totuși ursuleții se pregătesc pentru somnul cel lung, chiar dacă nu au învățat asta de la mama lor. Pregătirea bârlogului pentru iernat este un instinct înnăscut declanșat de mai mulți factori, dintre care cei mai importanți sunt scăderea orelor de lumină sincronziat cu scăderea temperaturii ambientale. Blana lor este foarte deasă și au acumulat un strat de grăsime care le va asigura energia de-a lungul câtorva luni. 🐻❄️

Își sapă mai multe bârloage, dintre care vor alege unul. Uneori treaba începe de unul singur, camarazii de grup alăturându-se mai târziu. După atingerea unei adâncimi suficiente, bârlogul este căptușit cu crengi de brad și iarbă uscată. Totul începe ca o joacă, însă instinctele lăuntrice își croiesc drum către materializarea exterioară și rezultatul este întotdeauna un cuib ascuns și bine amenajat. 🌿🕳️

Somnul de iarnă sau cu alte cuvinte hibernarea ursidă este un fenomen unic în lumea animalelor, asigurând supraviețuirea în condiții de viață marginale, făcând ca ursul să fie un maestru al adaptării într-un mod de viață solitar, grad de adaptare pe care până și omul reușește să-l atingă doar în grup, printr-o cooperare strânsă cu semenii săi. 🤝🌍

Akár hiszünk a globális felmelegedésben, akár nem, az biztos, hogy az utóbbi években a tél egyre később érkezik🧐

Még ebben a szezonban sem csökkent drasztikusan a hőmérséklet karácsonyig, és az erdő sem öltötte magára fehér ruháját. 🌲🤍

👉Ennek ellenére a kis medvék már készülnek hosszú téli álmukra – még akkor is, ha ezt nem az anyjuktól tanulták. A téli vackuk előkészítése veleszületett ösztön, amelyet több tényező vált ki, ezek közül a legfontosabb a nappalok rövidülése és a környezeti hőmérséklet csökkenése. Bundájuk rendkívül sűrű, és jelentős zsírréteget halmoztak fel, amely több hónapon át biztosítja számukra az energiát. 🐻❄️

Több vackot is kiásnak, amelyek közül végül egyet választanak ki. Néha a munka egyetlen egyeddel kezdődik, majd később csatlakozik hozzá a csoport többi tagja. Amikor elérik a megfelelő mélységet, a vackot fenyőágakkal és száraz fűvel bélelik ki. Az egész kezdetben játéknak tűnik, ám a belső ösztönök utat törnek maguknak, és az eredmény mindig egy rejtett, gondosan kialakított fészek lesz. 🌿🕳️

A téli álom – más szóval a medvék hibernációja – az állatvilág egyik különleges jelensége. A túlélést szolgálja a szélsőséges életkörülmények között, és a medvét az alkalmazkodás mesterévé teszi az egyedülálló életmód során. Olyan szintű alkalmazkodás ez, amelyet az ember csak csoportban, szoros együttműködés révén képes elérni. 🤝🌍

Azi am documentat primul caz în care un urs eliberat de la Bear-Again a manifestat un comportament nedorit

👉Echipat cu un colar GPS, ursul a părăsit zona centrului în luna august și a petrecut aproape două luni în munții Giurgeului, după care s-a deplasat spre nord, oprindu-se în Cheile Bicazului.

Din păcate, acolo a fost atras de resturile alimentare aruncate în tomberoanele de gunoi de lângă restaurantele din localitatea Lacu Roșu. Timp de aproximativ o săptămână, a frecventat constant această sursă facilă de hrană, iar autoritățile au decis capturarea și translocarea lui într-o altă zonă sălbatică.

Evenimentul s-a produs chiar în afara perioadei în care colarul GPS ar fi trebuit să transmită datele (transmiterea se face la intervale de două săptămâni), astfel că am aflat prea târziu despre acest incident.

Vom continua monitorizarea, iar dacă acest comportament se repetă, vom acționa pentru transferarea ursului într-un sanctuar.

Mulțumim autorităților din Gheorgheni pentru profesionalismul de care au dat dovadă!

Today we documented the first case of a bear released from Bear-Again showing unwanted behavior

👉Equipped with a GPS collar, the bear left the rehabilitation area in August and spent almost two months in the Giurgeu Mountains, then moved north, stopping in the Bicaz Canyon area.

Unfortunately, there it was attracted by food waste thrown into garbage bins near restaurants in the Lacu Roșu area. For about a week, it frequently returned to this easy food source, and the authorities decided to capture and relocate it to another wild area.

This event happened exactly outside the period when the GPS collar was scheduled to transmit data (every two weeks), so we learned about it too late.
We will continue monitoring, and if this behavior persists, we will take action to transfer the bear to a sanctuary.

We thank the local authorities of Gheorgheni for their professionalism and prompt response!

🐻The seven youngsters from last year have just stepped into a new chapter of their lives!🆓 (ROU, HU👇)

👉The final rehabilitation enclosure has been opened, and the cubs – who have grown remarkably both physically and behaviorally – took their very first steps towards true freedom.🌿

One of them is wearing a GPS monitoring collar, allowing us to follow its journey in the wild for another year. Stay tuned to see which path it will take! 🐾
