For English teacher Asmaa Mustafa, that has meant holding lessons on the sand near Rafah. This summer, she also supported extracurricular activities at schools funded by Education Above All Foundation.

Every day, they help children overcome barriers, build confidence, and keep learning, often in the most challenging circumstances.

But they cannot do it alone. The world needs 44 million additional teachers by 2030. Investing in teachers means investing in every child’s future.

Education Above All Foundation joined partners at the Palais des Nations in Geneva to mark the International Day to Protect Education from Attack.

The event brought together representatives from across the international community for a panel discussion, photo exhibition and Crossing Activation, highlighting the urgent need to protect learners, educators and educational institutions from attack.

Education must not end when war and conflict begin. It must be protected and sustained.

Can education survive attack?

At UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, leaders and partners came together to launch The Crosswalk, a visual timeline showing the alarming rise in attacks on education.

Their message was clear: protecting education requires more than responding after an attack. It requires preparation, resilient education systems, continuity of learning and accountability.

Together, we are calling for action to Protect Education from Attack and ensure education can withstand war and conflict.
