Dear Members and Friends of GPU,
As a new year begins, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the journey we share and to look forward with confidence, optimism, and renewed inspiration.
For nearly two decades, GPU has grown from an idea into a truly global federation, connecting photographers from different cultures, traditions, and perspectives. What unites us is not only our love for photography, but our shared belief that images have the power to communicate, to preserve memory, and to bring people closer together. This spirit has shaped our identity and continues to guide our path.
The past year was a vivid example of this collective strength. Across continents and communities, GPU members came together to create, to exchange ideas, and to celebrate photography in all its forms. From international exhibitions and cultural collaborations to educational initiatives and humanitarian actions, our work reflected the diversity, creativity, and human values that define GPU.
Highlights such as our participation at Photo Beijing 2025, the organization of exhibitions inspired by heritage and tradition, the donation of photographic works to support children in need, and the successful realization of the 7th GPU Photo Festival in Krakow, reminded us that photography is not only an art form, but also a bridge between people, cultures, and generations. The opening of the International Photographic Centers of GPU further strengthens this vision, offering a permanent space for dialogue, education, and international cooperation.
As we move forward, our focus remains clear. We aim to deepen our photographic programs, encourage collaboration among members, and expand opportunities for photographers to present their work worldwide. At the same time, we remain committed to projects that use photography as a means of social engagement, cultural preservation, and solidarity. These efforts are not separate from our artistic mission — they are an essential part of it.
GPU’s strength lies in its members. Your participation, ideas, passion, and generosity shape everything we do. I encourage you all to remain active, to share your vision, and to continue contributing to this vibrant global community. Together, we honor our history while opening new paths for the future.
As we welcome the New Year, I wish each of you creativity, inspiration, and meaningful encounters, both behind and beyond the camera. May the coming year bring new perspectives, strong collaborations, and images that speak with honesty, sensitivity, and depth.
