REAP Lanao del Sur, under the dedicated leadership of our Chapter President, Engr. Benitez K. Derogongan, successfully conducted a relief distribution for the flood victims of Typhoon Basyang in Barangay Mahayahay, Iligan City.

What we witnessed today was more than just the distribution of relief goods. It was unity. It was compassion. It was hope being handed from one heart to another.

To the families affected by the floods, we stand with you. And to everyone who extended their help, support, and prayers — thank you for being part of this meaningful mission.

In times of disaster, kindness becomes our greatest strength. And today, kindness prevailed.

2025 Ramadhan Outreach Program: Embracing Generosity and Compassion

Marking its fourth year, the Road Engineering Association of the Philippines (REAP) Marawi City/Lanao del Sur Chapter proudly held its Annual Ramadhan Outreach Program — a heartfelt initiative aimed at uplifting communities during the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Starting on the first day of Ramadhan, the program reached 57 Torils, distributing packed meals with fruits and water through the Iftar Drive to help families break their fast. Recognizing greater needs in some areas, sacks of rice and trays of eggs were also provided, ensuring access to essential food supplies.

A remarkable highlight was the donation of a 1,000-liter water tank to one Toril, enhancing their access to clean water, particularly for ablution and daily use. This contribution not only supports health and hygiene but also carries deep spiritual significance during this sacred time.

The Ramadhan Outreach Program embodies solidarity, compassion, and shared humanity. As part of REAP’s "Yakap ng REAP", it continues to make a lasting impact, inspiring kindness and service in the true spirit of Ramadhan.

May this initiative remind us all that even the smallest acts of generosity can bring hope and change lives.

Allah has made fasting Ramadan and spending its nights in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward a means of forgiveness of sins, as was proven in al-Sahihayn (al-Bukhari, 2014; Muslim, 760) from the hadith of Abu Hurayrah according to which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”

The Road Engineering Association of the Philippines Qatar Chapter (REAP-Qatar) recently held its prestigious International Conference at the JW Marriott Marquis City Center in Doha, State of Qatar, from November 7 to 9, 2024. This milestone event gathered professionals, engineers, and industry leaders from around the world, marking a significant step forward in advancing road engineering practices and fostering global collaborations.

The highlight of the conference was the chartering and induction of officers, which was facilitated by Her Excellency Lillibeth V. Pono, the Philippine Ambassador to Qatar and Engr. David G. Sanchez, the REAP National President. The newly inducted officers expressed their dedication to contributing to the field by enhancing professional standards and strengthening ties among engineers worldwide.

In a show of solidarity and collaboration among other chapters, the REAP Lanao del Sur Chapter, headed by its Chapter President Engr. Benitez Derogongan, also attended the event. Such participation underscored the strong network and mutual support, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose. Chapter President Engr. Ben and the Lanao del Sur Chapter delegates took the opportunity to exchange insights, connect with fellow professionals, and participated in the technical conference, which is anchored on the broader discussions on advancing road engineering both locally and internationally.

The conference continued its third day with a series of technical sessions delivered by a diverse lineup of speakers. These sessions explored the latest trends, technologies, and innovations relevant to road engineering. By facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices, the conference served as a platform for learning, collaboration, and growth within the global road engineering community.

With its successful conclusion, the REAP-Qatar International Conference was a momentous occasion that formalized REAP’s commitment to promoting excellence and innovation in road engineering in the Philippines and beyond.

The Road Engineering Association of the Philippines, Inc. (REAP) Lanao del Sur/Marawi City Chapter, headed by its Chapter President Benitez Derogongan, attended this year's REAP National Convention 2024 at Modala Beach Resort, Bohol, Philippines, last June 27 and 28, 2024. This year's convention focused on the theme "Bagong Pilipinas: Revitalizing Tourism through Integrated Road Networks and High Standard Highways/Expressways."

In his message, the Guest of Honor, Hon. Manuel M. Bonoan, Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways, mentioned the importance of integrating road networks and high standard highways and expressways to the development of our country's economic growth, most especially in relation to tourism. According to his inspiring speech, roads serve as connecting veins to both urban and rural areas.

True to its theme, the technical sessions also focused on innovations and sustainable developments anchored to revitalize the road networks of our country for both foreign and Filipino people.
