Would You Walk On By?
We don’t usually share stories like this.
Our page is normally filled with hope—rescues, recoveries, adoptions and the everyday lives of the street cats we care for. But every so often, a little life deserves to be remembered, even if it was only with us for a very short time.
This is Plazinho.
He was found lying in the dirt opposite Gran Plaza shopping centre.
Someone had covered him with a T-shirt.
As people walked past, he lay there in the heat, injured, dehydrated and alone.
Perhaps the person who covered him thought they were helping. We don’t know. But a T-shirt is not help. An injured kitten doesn’t need to be hidden. He needs someone to stop. To care. To pick him up. To take him to a vet.
Eventually, one family did exactly that.
They refused to walk past.
They took him for veterinary care, knowing he might not survive. Even if nothing more could be done, they wanted his suffering to end with kindness rather than loneliness.
Sadly, Plazinho died the following day.
Would he have survived if someone had helped him sooner?
We’ll never know.
What we do know is that in this extreme summer heat, even healthy street animals can quickly become dehydrated. An injured kitten has almost no chance without immediate help.
So today we want to ask a simple question.
If you had seen him…
Would you have walked on by?
Compassion doesn’t always mean knowing what to do. It doesn’t mean having money. Sometimes it simply means stopping, making a phone call, taking an animal to a vet, or asking for help.
That one decision could be the difference between life and death.
Thank you to the family who stopped.
Thank you to the veterinary team who gave Plazinho every chance and made sure that, although his life was short, his final hours were spent being cared for.
Rest gently, little Plazinho.

A nossa página é, muitas vezes, repleta de esperança — resgates, recuperações, adoções e o dia a dia dos gatos vadios de quem cuidamos. Mas, de vez em quando, uma pequena vida merece ser recordada, mesmo que tenha estado connosco por pouco tempo.
Este é o Plazinho.
Foi encontrado deitado na terra em frente ao centro comercial Gran Plaza.
Alguém o cobriu com uma t-shirt.
Enquanto as pessoas passavam, ele ficava ali, ao calor, ferido, desidratado e sozinho.
Talvez a pessoa que o cobriu pensasse que estava a ajudar. Não sabemos. Mas uma t-shirt não ajuda. Um gatinho ferido não precisa de ser escondido. Ele precisa que alguém pare. Que se preocupe. Que o apanhe. Que o leve ao veterinário.
Finalmente, uma família fez exatamente isso.
Recusaram-se a passar direto.
Levaram-no para cuidados veterinários, sabendo que poderia não sobreviver. Mesmo que nada mais pudesse ser feito, queriam que o seu sofrimento terminasse com carinho, e não com solidão.
Infelizmente, o Plazinho morreu no dia seguinte.
Teria sobrevivido se alguém o tivesse ajudado antes?
Nunca saberemos.
O que sabemos é que, neste calor extremo de verão, até os animais de rua saudáveis podem desidratar rapidamente. Um gatinho ferido quase não tem hipóteses sem ajuda imediata.
Por isso, hoje, queremos fazer uma pergunta simples.

Teria passado direto?
A compaixão nem sempre significa saber o que fazer. Não significa ter dinheiro. Por vezes, significa simplesmente parar, fazer um telefonema, levar um animal ao veterinário ou pedir ajuda.
Esta decisão pode ser a diferença entre a vida e a morte.
