Main causes for such a tremendous housing crisis in Portugal: The poor or just not exhistent restrictions to air b&b apartments (ALojamento Local), the market mechanisms that promote housing as an investiment market (like for financial funds and rich investitors) and not as a fundamental constitutional right, and the very small offer of public housing (around 1%). It´s also important to say that there are about 730.000 houses in the all country!!! So tax mechanisms should penalize abandoned houses... to stimulate propoerty owners to put them in the renting market (or selling) instead of leaving it abandoned for speculative reasons.

Percurso Ecossocial no âmbito de Programa de Formação Internacional "Development of artistic and craft skills" promovido pela YUPI para Professoras de diversas escolas da Polónia / 2026-05-23

No dia 23 de Maio (2026) tivemos a oportunidade, num novo “desafio” lançado pela YUPI, parceira de longa data, de realizar e guiar um Percurso Ecossocial que incidiu sobretudo na zona do Bonfim, num trajecto que correspondeu particalmente ao Tour SMT9 (Bonfim) - The “East” Side Porto mas que em função da reestruturação que estamos a proceder aos Roteiros deverá ainda durante este ano de ser ligeiramente alterado, nomeadamente no que respeita a sua designação.

Foi um “Tour” bastante interessante onde, acreditamos, conseguimos transmitir bastante da nossa realidade ecossocial, bem como da história local, às participantes.

As participantes foram Professoras de escolas da Polónia PZS Żmigród ,ZSZ Rawicz e da ArtesEdu a ser recebidas pela YUPI no âmbito de um Training nomeado "Development of artistic and craft skills" que está a acontecer de 20 a 27 de maio com o apoio do Programa Erasmus+.

Agradecemos mais uma vez à YUPI pelo desafio lançado e pela confiança no nosso Trabalho e Projecto.

And even if it was sad to see how badly the Douro is treated, it was still a wonderful Tour along some of the most iconic places along the Douro right bank with lots of stories, legends, memories to tell and share!

The Douro River can be, in many aspects, be considered like the “blood” running in the veins of Porto. Throughout history it has always been a very essential element and presence in Porto culture, economy, ecology and sociology. Also for many centuries Porto´s main way of communication with the entire north region but also the starting point for longer dangerous trips between Porto and other nations, mostly the main trading centers of the North and the South of Europe.
This Tour is an opportunity to go through Douro right bank of Porto, up to Foz with a different and deeper perspective. Going through different social, ecological but also historical aspects.
