Back in 1884, a group of electrical pioneers met for the very first time to share their ideas. That was the beginning of the AIEE, which later joined the IRE to become the IEEE in 1963.

Professor Manuel Medeiros Silva (1943–2023)

We had the pleasure of interviewing two former PhD students supervised by Professor M. Medeiros Silva, Professor Jorge Fernandes, Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, and Professor Luís Oliveira, Associate Professor at NOVA School of Science and Technology, NOVA University Lisbon.
They reflected on the qualities that distinguished Professor Medeiros as an exceptional professor and mentor. They also shared memorable experiences from their time under his supervision, recalling remarkable moments and some of the expressions that became characteristic of his teaching and academic guidance.
