A Câmara Municipal da Ponta do Sol, em parceria com a Associação Animais de Rua, vai realizar uma intervenção no âmbito do programa Capturar–Esterilizar–Devolver (CED) no concelho.

Nos dias 30 e 31 de março, prevê-se que sejam intervencionados até 100 gatos em colónias do concelho já identificadas. Esta ação é essencial para o controlo ético das populações errantes, melhoria do bem-estar animal e salvaguarda da saúde pública.

Apela-se à colaboração de toda a população, solicitando que não alimentem os animais nos dias 29, 30 e 31 de março, de forma a não comprometer o processo de captura, devendo ser deixada apenas água fresca à disposição.

O Município da Ponta do Sol associa-se assim à Associação Animais de Rua nesta intervenção pioneira, sendo um dos cinco municípios que participam nesta primeira fase do programa CED na Madeira. Esta é uma ação de grande dimensão e impacto, que procura promover uma convivência mais segura, saudável e equilibrada entre pessoas e animais.

Three years ago, one of the volunteers set herself a mission: to help all the dogs at the Ponta do Sol shelter find loving homes.
Through dedication, walks in nature, cuddles, social media, and introducing the dogs to the community, one by one they began to leave the shelter and start new lives, after spending many years in confinement.
Last week, that mission was completed.
All the dogs from that time are now living in loving homes. 🐾
We hope this story will inspire others to get involved when the shelter opens its volunteer program again.
Because dedication, care, and persistence can truly change the lives of dogs in Madeira ❤️

Há três anos, uma das voluntárias assumiu uma missão: ajudar todos os cães do abrigo da Ponta do Sol a encontrar lares cheios de amor.
Através de dedicação, passeios, mimos, redes sociais e da apresentação dos cães à comunidade, um a um começaram a sair do abrigo e a iniciar novas vidas, depois de terem vivido muitos anos em confinamento.
Na semana passada, essa missão foi concluída.
Todos os cães dessa altura estão agora a viver em lares cheios de amor. 🐾
Esperamos que esta história inspire outras pessoas a envolverem-se quando o abrigo voltar a abrir o seu programa de voluntariado.
Porque dedicação, cuidado e persistência podem realmente mudar a vida dos cães na Madeira. ❤️

Heaven gained the most beautiful angel 🤍🐾
On Friday, with the heaviest of hearts, Obby’s family had to let his gentle spirit go.

When Maryann and Bob rescued Obby less than two months ago, they knew his health would be a challenge. His kidney failure had already progressed, but that didn’t stop them. They chose love. They chose commitment. They chose to give him a home — no matter how much time he had left.

Over these past weeks, they did absolutely everything possible to support his health and comfort. More importantly, they gave him what every dog deserves: warmth, safety, soft beds, kind hands, and unconditional love.

Obby became a cherished part of their family in such a short time. And while their time together was far too brief, it was filled with tenderness, care, and devotion. We truly believe Obby knew he was rescued. We believe he felt how deeply he was loved.

He didn’t leave this world alone. He left it as someone’s beloved boy. 💛
Rest in peace, brave Obby. You will never be forgotten.
