Sometimes, all a young dog needs is the chance to be loved and properly cared for - and sadly, little Barbie had not received that in her short life.
Às vezes, tudo o que um cão jovem precisa é da oportunidade de ser amado e bem cuidado - e infelizmente, a pequena Barbie não teve isso no início da sua vida.
This beautiful Bull Terrier found herself in the wrong environment after being rehomed to someone unable to properly care for her. What should have been a safe and loving home became a situation of neglect and suffering.
Esta linda Bull Terrier acabou no ambiente errado após ter sido entregue a alguém sem condições para cuidar dela. O que deveria ter sido um lar seguro e cheio de amor tornou-se uma situação de negligência e sofrimento.
Thankfully, Barbie’s story did not end there.
Felizmente, a história da Barbie não terminou assim.
With support from the veterinary team and after Lisa reached out for help, ABLE stepped in to ensure Barbie was surrendered into proper care where she could finally receive the help she desperately needed.
Com o apoio da equipa veterinária e depois de a Lisa ter pedido ajuda, a ABLE interveio para garantir que a Barbie fosse entregue a cuidados adequados, onde finalmente pudesse receber a ajuda de que precisava urgentemente.
When Barbie arrived, she was severely malnourished and anaemic - weak, underweight and in need of urgent love, stability and medical support. Following a recent veterinary examination, it is now believed Barbie is closer to 12 months old rather than 6 months.
Quando a Barbie chegou, estava severamente desnutrida e anémica - fraca, abaixo do peso e a precisar urgentemente de amor, estabilidade e cuidados médicos. Após uma recente avaliação veterinária, acredita-se agora que a Barbie tenha cerca de 12 meses e não apenas 6.
The good news is that Barbie is already making incredible progress. In just six days, she has increased her body weight by an amazing 20%.
A boa notícia é que a Barbie já está a fazer progressos incríveis. Em apenas seis dias, aumentou o seu peso corporal em impressionantes 20%.
But what everyone notices most about Barbie is not just her recovery - it is her gentle, loving nature. Despite everything she has been through, she is affectionate, sweet-natured and simply wants love and reassurance from the people around her.
Mas aquilo que mais chama a atenção na Barbie não é apenas a sua recuperação - é a sua natureza doce e carinhosa. Apesar de tudo o que passou, continua a ser meiga, afetuosa e apenas procura amor e segurança das pessoas à sua volta.
Today, Barbie is safe in foster care with caring people, where she is slowly beginning her recovery surrounded by kindness, patience and affection.
Hoje, a Barbie está em segurança numa família de acolhimento com pessoas carinhosas, onde começa lentamente a recuperar rodeada de carinho, paciência e afeto.
Her journey is only just beginning, and we will continue to share updates as she grows stronger. In time, we hope to find Barbie the responsible forever home she truly deserves - one filled with love, safety and compassion.
