🇬🇧 Dear Parents, it is with a spirit of mission accomplished that I say goodbye to 2 years leading the PTA.
I believe that I and other presidents before me took the first steps in building this community.

Over the past two years, the PTA has supported several initiatives at the school, such as SPIMUN, the Drama Club and the Speech Marathon.

We signed a protocol with the Raquel Saraiva Clinic, which helped some parents and St. Peter’s staff with acupuncture sessions, physiotherapy and many other services (find out what discounts you get for you are St. Peter’s and PTA parent).

With the uniforms and donated books section, we help hundreds of parents and even teachers to acquire uniforms for their children.
We donated books to the library and to the libraries of the first-year classrooms, we started the second-hand markets that have been so successful with parents, and we started the tradition of having a day when we offer brunch to the teachers and staff at St. Peter’s as a way of thanking them for all the work they have done throughout the year in educating our children.

Many social groups were created so that the community could socialize and get to know each other better. We held our first Christmas lunch, it wasn't the best place but the tradition was implemented. We held picnics at the beginning and end of the school year and our first Spring Ball…

We have always been there when there was a need to represent parents before the school, although sometimes there was the wrong impression that the PTA would have to resolve any problem…
It is undeniable what we have achieved, but other challenges arise and it is time for other ideas and skills to come to the fore. There is a need to involve more parents in activities, create working committees, have parents represented by class, and improve school/parent communication. The first steps in this direction were taken, now we need to creat the structure ☺️.

The WhatsApp group has been the main channel of communication between parents over the last 4 years. It helped many parents to clarify doubts, to be informed about school events and happenings, it served as a platform to boost a lot of the social life of this community but unfortunately it also managed to have some toxicity when those behind a screen sometimes do not know how to measure their words.

This group will change its name, it will no longer be called PTA-SPIS, as the new executive will have another communication channel to be announced soon.

I would like before I finish; to thank my entire executive team, everyone who was there when I needed support and volunteers, everyone who understood me and knows what I gave for this community. Everyone knows who they are ☺️.

I wish you all an excellent summer, rested and recharging your batteries for next year.

Despedida

🇵🇹Caros Pais é com espírito de Missão cumprida que me despeço de 2 anos à frente da PTA.
Considero que eu e outras presidentes antes de mim demos os 1os passos na construção desta comunidade.

Ao longo destes dois anos a PTA apoiou várias iniciativas no escola como o SPIMUN, o Drama Club, a maratona de Discursos.

Celebrou um protocolo com a Clínica Raquel Saraiva que ajudou alguns pais e staff da escola em sessões de acupuntura, fisioterapia e tantas outras valências (informem-se que descontos têm por informarem que são pais St. Peter’s e PTA ou St.Peter’s staff).

Com a secção de uniformes e livros doados ajudámos centenas de pais e até professores na aquisição de uniforme para os seus filhos.
Doámos livros para a biblioteca e para as bibliotecas de sala dos 1os anos, iniciámos os mercados de 2a mão que tanto sucesso têm feito junto dos pais, iniciámos a tradição de termos um dia em que oferecemos um brunch aos professores e respectivos funcionários do St. Peter’s como forma de agradecimento por todo o trabalho desempenhado ao longo do ano na educação dos nossos filhos.

Muitos grupos sociais foram criados para que a comunidade pudesse socializar e conhecer-se melhor, realizámos o nosso 1o almoço de Natal, não foi o melhor local mas implementou-se a tradição, realizámos pic-nics de início e fim de ano lectivo realizou-se o nosso 1o Baile da Primavera…

Estivemos sempre lá quando havia necessidade de representar os pais perante a escola, embora por vezes houvesse a impressão errada que a PTA teria que resolver qualquer problema…
É inegável o que conseguimos, mas outros desafios se levantam e está na hora de outras ideias e competências virem ao de cima. Há necessidade de envolvermos mais pais na actividades, a criação de comités de trabalho, a representação de pais por turma, o melhoramento da comunicação escola/pais. Os 1os passos nesse sentido foram dados há que criar a estrutura ☺️.

O grupo do WhatsApp foi ao longo destes 4 anos o grande canal de comunicação entre pais. Ajudou muitos pais a esclarecer dúvidas, a serem informados de eventos e acontecimentos escolares , serviu de plataforma para alavancar muita vida social desta comunidade mas infelizmente também conseguiu ter alguma toxicidade quando quem está por detrás de um ecrã por vezes não sabe medir as suas palavras.

Esse grupo irá mudar o seu nome, pois não poderá continuar a ser chamado de PTA-SPIS, uma vez que o novo executivo irá ter um outro canal de comunicação a ser anunciado em breve.

Gostaria antes de terminar; agradecer a todo o meu executivo, a todos os que estiveram lá quando precisei de apoio e voluntários, a todos os que desse lado me compreenderam e sabem o que dei por esta comunidade. Todos sabem quem são ☺️.

Desejo-vos a todos um excelente verão, descansado e com um recarregar de baterias para o próximo ano.
Quanto a mim…andarei por aí a ser feliz e a tentar sempre com um sorriso nos lábios continuar a ajudar.
