594 km of 1000 along the Azores coastline meeting people who care for the ocean. Today we gave back to this wonderful country and checked what we could find in the harbour area below the surface. From bottles to a mixer to a cash box with money in it -> 80 cents to buy a cafezinho! And i couldn't believe out of nowhere, I even won the first place for picking up the most kg - but as you know me - I don't care as it is never about being the best and how much we recover - but always about awareness, talking about root causes and reconnecting people with our ocean!

Lovely morning with , .montanheiros & many more !

576 km of 1000: One day after world ocean day its still a day for the ocean as all the rest of the year! Azores establishes the largest Marine Protected Area Network in the North Atlantic - protecting 30% of Azorean waters, including 15% that are fully protected.

After watching David Attenborough's Ocean yesterday, it was a reminder that protecting areas on paper is only the first step. The real challenge is ensuring they are properly managed and enforced.

When done right, marine protected areas help fish populations recover, support biodiversity, and strengthen the blue economy. The ocean can recover if we give it the chance!

575 km of 1000: Today we celebrated with the NGO and a school - talking about the deep connection between healthy waves, thriving coastal ecosystems, and the well being of people. Protecting local surf breaks and marine habitats is not only important for the Azores, but also part of a global effort to safeguard the ocean, our planet’s life support system. Through education, conservation, and collaboration, we can help build a blue economy where tourism, businesses, and coastal communities prosper while respecting and protecting the ocean that sustains us all!

Thanks Escola Secundaria Jeronimo Emiliano de Andrade & !

546 of 1000 km walked along the Azores so far, but today, we celebrate with releasing a film. This project started with walking 1152 km along mainland Portugal and continued with 280 km around Madeira and Porto Santo raising awareness with communities.

If you want to watch a short film about Portugals coastline, ocean and deep sea mining - comment 🌊 or DM and you get the access to it!

Have a wonderful day and spread the message that taking care of our planet is taking care of us!

520 km of 1000 walking along the Azores and the kids said, lets create an Agua-Viva! An animal with no brain, no heart, and no bones has survived for more than 500 million years. They may look like simple blobs of water, but they help feed sea turtles, sunfish, and many other marine animals. In the open ocean, they can even provide shelter for young fish, making them an important part of marine ecosystems.

This Jellyfish is a reminder that the ocean has always changed. But today, it is changing faster than ever. As the climate warms, ocean temperatures rise, currents shift, and marine ecosystems are forced to adapt.

Jellyfish are often among the species that can tolerate these changing conditions. In some regions of the world, scientists have observed increases in jellyfish blooms linked to warming waters, overfishing, and ecosystem imbalance.

A jellyfish is therefore much more than a beautiful creature. It can also be a signal of how the ocean is responding to the world we are creating.

502 of 1000 km walked across the Azores arrived to Graciosa to meet the new NGO .acores.biosfera and a school: "Which footprint do we want to leave behind?"

Some of these soles may have travelled thousands of kilometres. In 1990, thousands of Nike shoes lost from a cargo ship helped oceanographers map ocean currents. In 2018, another container spill released shoes that later washed ashore across the Atlantic.

Looking at our footprint, we cannot know where each sole came from. But together they tell a story about ocean health, consumption, and connectivity.

What we throw away, lose, or ignore does not simply disappear. It can travel across entire ocean and become part of someone else's shore.

Every footprint leaves a mark. The question is whether ours will be remembered for the waste we left behind, or for the actions we took to protect the ocean.

Supported by the NGO .eu & - screening the beaches inspired by and meeting the longboard champion !

500 of 1000 km to learn about the ocean together with the communities, schools, NGOs and scientists. Now Graciosa and on Friday already Terceira with a fully packed program! See you along the way!

Wednesday: .acores.biosfera + school + you at the beach? 3 pm!

Thanks a lot for the transfer from São Jorge - will be now much easier to hop the central islands! 🌊

498 km of 1000 walked along the Azores coast to learn about the ocean: Sometimes, the most important conservation heroes are the ones pooping in the sea! Thanks for an awesome day infront of São Jorge!

Just like whales, dolphins recycle nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus back into surface waters. These nutrients fertilize phytoplankton, tiny marine plants that form the foundation of ocean food webs and produce around half of Earth's oxygen.

That means dolphins are not just fish eaters. They are ecosystem engineers. Their presence helps support healthy, productive oceans that can sustain fish, marine life and fisheries alike - not the contrary!

498 km of 1000 walked along Azores. Muito obrigado to everyone whom I had the honor to meet so far. If you find me in the next islands - Graciosa, Terceira, Pico, Faial, Flores & Corvo - you can take part in the community documentary: "O que te da o mar?" - what does the ocean give you? 1 - 3 words or a sentence. Or comment below your relation, and you'll also be included in an artistic way!
