Portugal, maio 2026

"May was a wonderful month, with such beautiful weather that it already felt like summer. I had the chance to travel to Morocco, which was an incredible experience. I enjoyed delicious couscous every day, discovered stunning and very diverse landscapes, and got to learn more about the culture there.

I also went on a trip to Peniche with other volunteers. It’s a very cute town where we spent time together, laughing, enjoying the atmosphere, and sharing great moments.

It was a month full of sunshine, travels, and beautiful memories that I will definitely keep with me."

Portugal, fevereiro 2026

"My name is Maëva, I am 28 years old and I come from France. I am currently taking part in a European Solidarity Corps volunteering project in Portugal, where I work in a children’s home.
February was another lovely month of my volunteering experience! I continued to share many special moments with the children and teenagers. We celebrated Carnival, and some of the children dressed up in colourful costumes. It was a great opportunity to enjoy this Portuguese tradition together! We also celebrated Valentine’s Day and a birthday, creating more happy memories as a group.
One of my favourite moments was going to watch a football match with some of the children. It was a different experience to share with them, and I really enjoyed spending time together outside the home.

This month, I also had the opportunity to give a presentation at a university, which was a great experience and a chance to share more about my volunteering journey.

Outside of volunteering, I was happy to enjoy the return of sunny days. After the winter weather, it felt wonderful to spend more time outside and enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Portugal.

My experience is still going very well, and I feel grateful for all the moments I get to share, the people I meet and everything I continue to learn. This adventure is helping me grow both personally and professionally, and I am looking forward to discovering what the next months will bring!"

Portugal, fevereiro 2026

"Hello, my name is Nepomuk Hoensbroech, I am from Germany, and I am 19 years old.
I have been here is Lisbon since October and I work in a migrant shelter . This month was also a bit more quiet. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we still tried to make the best out of it. We had “hora de contos” at the shelter, where we do activities with the migrants, like small theater plays or reading historical Portuguese stories to gain a better understanding of Portuguese culture and its history. We also tried to do some cultural visits with the migrants in some museums and other parts of Lisbon. Besides that, in this month we just did our regular tasks, like picking up donations, helping in the shelter cleaning and organizing, etc. The best moments during this month were spending time with the migrants and getting to know them better.

Portugal, julho 2026

"July was a little bit different because I spent some time in Poland visiting my family and friends. It's such a strange feeling when you feel at home in two places that are on opposite sides of Europe. And July was a month when this feeling really hit me.

Besides that, I worked with horses and kids at the equestrian centre. It was very sweet when the kids I had worked with for the past six months were saying goodbye before their summer break. I even received some gifts!
I also helped out during summer camps for kids with special needs. We went to the beach, played in the water, built sandcastles, played at the playground, and did many other things. It was quite challenging because it was sometimes difficult to communicate with the kids, but I appreciate this experience.

In my free time, I explored Lisbon and its surroundings. I finally discovered Quinta da Regaleira, and I was once again mesmerized by the gardens of Sintra."

Portugal, julho 2026

"July was a month of many changes for me. I started working in a school. I had always been curious about working with children because I am very interested in education. During this month, we helped with the summer activities, and it was a very interesting and enriching experience.

I feel that I learned a lot, especially Portuguese, because the children taught me a lot and I had to make a greater effort to communicate since they did not speak English. We were also able to organise many creative activities together.

This month was also the World Cup. Although I am not particularly interested in watching football on TV, I ended up joining in because it felt special to watch the matches with the volunteers when their countries were playing, and to be part of something so collective. I watched several matches at Praça do Comércio, and it was a lot of fun.
To my surprise, Spain ended up winning, which made it a particularly special and heartwarming experience."

"April was an amazing month because I had the chance to travel to Madeira with my roommates. We spent 10 fantastic days exploring the island, discovering incredible landscapes, walking a lot, eating delicious food, and travelling all around the island.

Madeira was truly beautiful and very different from anything I had seen before. Between the mountains, the ocean, and the small villages, every day felt like a new adventure. It was such a refreshing and unforgettable experience.

I feel very lucky to be able to discover so many beautiful places during my volunteering experience in Portugal, and I’m excited for the next adventures to come!"

"Olá! I’m Bea from Italy, and I’m currently doing my volunteer project in Portugal. My July in Lisbon was very summery, almost entirely at the beach. I went to the beach often, taking advantage of the heat to take a break.
I visited Setubal, I really liked it, it was quieter than Lisbon.
I went to Sesimbra, the beautiful sea and a real holiday feeling.
Then I went to T***a, with a super long white beach. It was a light month of sea and day trips."
