Seminário Sport Expertise Seminário científico dirigido a investigadores, estudantes e profissionais do desporto.

O tema central é a compreensão dos processos biológicos (p.ex., genéticos) e comportamentais (p.ex., processos de treino) que explicam a perícia e o desempenho de alto nível no desporto, e o modo como a compreensão científica da perícia possibilita melhores avaliações e intervenções por parte de treinadores e cientistas do desporto. Os Professores Keith Davids e Yannis Pitsiladis são dois dos mais

conceituados investigadores na área e consultores de clubes e Instituições desportivas ligadas ao alto rendimento em modalidades individuais (p.ex., Atletismo) e coletivas (p.ex., Futebol).

ANNA VOLOSSOVITCH is Assistance Professor of Faculty of Human Kinetics of University of Lisbon since 1998, PhD in Sport Sciences, regent of discipline Young Athlete Training. Co-author of two books, book chapters and papers regarding Handball training and performance analysis in sport games. Her main research interests lie in the field of performance analysis, learning process and expertise development in sport and, particularly, in sport games.

VERONICA VLECK did her PhD on training and injury in Elite triathletes and is currently a full-time Research Fellow, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRD/BPD/104394/2014). She has extensive University and international lecturing experience in sports and exercise physiology and psychology, and is a former Laboratory Director of the National Sports Medicine Institute of the UK. She has over twenty years of experience in coaching and or providing sports science support to all levels of athlete, from novices through to Wworld Age Group Champions, National Squads and Olympic medallists.

PEDRO PASSOS is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Human Kinetics/University of Lisbon in Portugal. He is PhD in Sport Sciences since 2008. His research involves the study of the dynamics of interpersonal coordination in team sports, which led him to produce several papers accepted for publication in scientific journals, book chapters, as well as communications in scientific meetings. He recently published two books as an author and two others as editor.

ISABEL FRAGOSO is associate professor of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences, Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Lisbon. Member of the Laboratory of Exercise Physiology and Biochemistry, and CIPER, funded by FCT. During the last 8 years Professor’s Fragoso was largely involved in high-level athletes evaluation and consulting, with regular contracts with national sports federations and with the Portuguese Sports Institute. Fragoso's main research activity is focused on anthropometric maturation and performance.

DUARTE ARAÚJO is the director of the Laboratory of Expertise in Sport of the Faculty of Human Kinetics at University of Lisbon, Portugal. He is the president of the Portuguese Society of Sport Psychology and a member of the National Council of Sports of Portugal. His research on expertise and decision-making has been funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia. Prof. Araújo published more than 100 papers in highly scientific journals mainly about expertise, expert performance, variability, and decision-making, both in individuals and teams. He supervises many doctoral students from several countries and he was invited worldwide to talk about expert performance in sport.

FRANCISCO ALVES Full professor of the Department of Sport and Health Sciences of the Faculty of Human Kinetics, responsable for the discipline of "Theory and Methodology of Sports Coaching" in undergraduation and graduation studies. Director of the Laboratory of Exercise Physiology, research unit which has being for the last 8 years largely involved in high level athletes evaluation and advising, with permanent contracts with several national sports federations and the Institute of Sports of Portugal. Main research activity deals with bioenergetic and biomechanical efficiency evaluation in endurance sports performance, with special interest in swimming and triathlon, linked to the discussion of training methods and periodization. Main research domain: Metabolic performance evaluation of endurance athletes. Other research interests: Training methods and periodization on endurance sports; Analysis of the impact of the training loads on indicators of fatigue and adaptation; Fatigue and technical characteristics of sports performance; Lactate testing and performance prediction; Endurance training in adolescent athletes: trainability of biological aspects and maturation; Bioenergetic and biomechanical determinants of efficiency in human locomotion in sports activities. ANA MARIA ABREU has majored in Psychology (ISPA), pursuing her graduate studies in Neuropsychology (Paris VI and KCL). During her Post-Doc training (La Spienza, UCP & FMH) she focused her research in Sports Neuroscience, investigating the neural correlates of motor expertise. She now lectures in Sports and Exercise Psychology and has published several international papers on the theme.

YANNIS P. PITSILADIS MMEDSci., FACSM. Following 15 years at the University of Glasgow, where he created the largest known DNA biobank from world-class athletes, Yannis was appointed professor of sport and exercise science at the University of Brighton. Among other research interests Professor Pitsiladis, identified many of the physiologic, genetic, psychosocial and economic determinants of the phenomenal success of east African distance runners and sprinters of west African ancestry (e.g. Jamaican “sprint factory”).
