Throwback to spring time, when the grass was green and the sun was behaving 🥲

As the first Autumn rains have arrived soon we will see green grass again!
🔥Idk about you but for us it was a hot hot dry dry loooong summer (pretty sure climate change is real y'all). A bit scary but what can we do apart from continuing with our demonstration/experimentation to a sustainable life? Planting trees, growing our own food, composting, eating plant based, and trying our best while enjoying all the good things life has to offer with our friends 💚

I hear you say: "I also want to make my life more sustainable and join the quest to cooler summer but I don't have a land to do all these things!"
Fear not! And check out Frank from Fork Ranger for little changes you can make so we can keep enjoying our lives on Planet Earth ❤🌏

Growing your own fruit and veggies is the best!

1. You get the tastiest, freshest organic foods straight from your garden.🍅🥬🍉
2. It is funnnn!!! 😍
3. You get the chance to feed a whole bunch of insects and other animals too.🐛🐞🐝

Now there are plenty of ways to grow food. What we use as plant-food is composted organic matter.

We collect organic waste from our own kitchen and from the local social center (where they cook for the elderly).
This organic waste goes on the compost pile, or, in winter we even put it straight in any unused garden beds. When the soil organisms did their work they leave us with nutrient rich soil in which again we can grow our food. 🪱🌱 win-win!

For around fruit trees we use composted human waste (yes, poop💩) and mulch. No nutrients are wasted or flushed away to the ocean.

Cycle complete. ♻️

🌧️ After months of rain, storms, rain and more storms (and I'm not even exaggerating; Portugal faced multiple big storms this winter) the sun has finally arrived 😁🌞

What a joy to be outside again!

🐔 ☘️ The chickens seem excited to be roaming around in the green grass again without getting wet.
🐝 🌺 Flowers are opening, bees are buzzing

And we have been planting trees, pruning, grafting, repairing storm damage, and of course doing a lot of sunbathing ☺️💕☀️
