Acaba de ser lançado pela OMS o Relatório Técnico " Throwing away our health: the impact of solid waste on human health– evidence, knowledge gaps, and health sector responses" (Deitar fora a nossa saúde: o impacte dos resíduos sólidos na saúde humana – evidências, lacunas de conhecimento e respostas do setor da saúde). Este documento resume o conhecimento atual sobre as relações entre os resíduos sólidos e a saúde humana. O documento analisa as evidências epidemiológicas disponíveis e destaca as lacunas de investigação. Sublinha a necessidade de uma gestão de resíduos sustentável e integrada, de uma governação mais robusta e do envolvimento ativo do sector da saúde para reduzir os riscos para a saúde e fundamentar políticas e práticas baseadas em evidências.

The Croatian Chamber of Health Workers, the Professional Section for Sanitary Engineering and the IFEH welcome you to the 18th IFEH World Congress on Environmental Health (WCEH 2026), proudly hosted in the historic city of Dubrovnik, Croatia, from April 27th to 1st May 2026. This landmark edition of the Congress marks a momentous occasion – the 40th anniversary of the IFEH and its World Congress on Environmental Health, a global platform that has, for four decades, united professionals, researchers, policymakers, and institutions in advancing environmental health for a healthier planet.
Since its inception in 1986, the IFEH and its WCEH has been at the forefront of tackling the world’s most pressing environmental and public health challenges. As we reflect on the progress made, WCEH 2026 serves not only as a celebration of our shared achievements but as a catalyst for the future. Under the theme "Resilient Environments, Healthy Communities", this Congress will explore forward-thinking solutions, innovations, and collaborations that shape the future of environmental health in a rapidly changing world.
