So let me get this straight…
The argument here appears to be: “We must threaten overwhelming military force — potentially including nuclear capability — so another country doesn’t someday become a nuclear threat.”
That’s a hell of a message for a president to put out into the world.
And before the MAGA crowd starts hyperventilating: yes, presidents sometimes use deterrence language. But when you publicly talk about “the ultimate alternative” after describing B-2 bombers and destroying underground nuclear infrastructure, people are going to hear what sounds an awful lot like: comply, or face annihilation.
Also, can we stop pretending foreign policy is a Marvel movie? The Middle East is complicated. Iran’s regime deserves criticism. Nuclear proliferation is dangerous. But chest-thumping rhetoric mixed with “trust me, my deal fixes everything” is not a substitute for diplomacy, verification, or long-term strategy.
The irony is hard to miss: warning about a future nuclear aggressor while sounding aggressively comfortable with the idea of being one first.
America is strongest when we lead with competence, alliances, diplomacy, and deterrence — not when we sound like we’re freelancing global brinkmanship on social media. 🇺🇸
