We would like to add some Portuguese teams to that list. GAA Portugal was set up in mid 2017 and our aim is to have at least one team representing the country at competitions later this year. We are looking

for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities for our Mens and Ladies teams. So whether you want to get back in to training, connect with an international community, practice your English or learn a new sport, everybody is welcome. Gaelic games are sports originating in Ireland with Hurling, Camogie and Men's and Ladies Football being the main codes. We train together most Saturdays in Oeiras International School, near Caxias train station. We have a "Monthly Match" on the 2nd Saturday of the month, changing locations around Lisbon. We sometimes have social and cultural walks around Lisbon, leaving from in front of Cais do Sodre train station at 18h. A wonderful day at St. Julian's School when GAA Ambassador, Anton Tohill, introduced Gaelic Games & Movember MH initiatives to students, teaching, leadership and counselling staff as part of GGE’s Player Exchange Programme.

Thanks to Sponsors and the longstanding support from Irish Ambassador to Portugal, Alma Ní Choigligh, who attended, and Lisbon Celtiberos GAA Chairman and Women’s representatives for supporting.

Anton’s visit kickstarts our Junior Development Programme which aims to offer Gaelic Games to children in Portugal.

BIG thanks to Lisbon Celtiberos’s Laura Power, Teacher/ KS2 Lead at The British School of Lisbon, and GAA Pt & LXC Chairman, Jon Burke, Deputy Principle at St Julian’s School, Carcavelos for arranging special guests LXC Coach Aidan Sousa-Murphy, Trad Musician Joe Mahon and Irish Language Teacher & Author Mollie Guidera to present to crowded student assemblies on St Patrick’s Day.

Their initiative and the generous hospitality and support from these two leading British International Schools help us deliver on the key objectives of the GAA to promote Gaelic games, Irish music & Irish language (Gaeilge).

Congratulations to Porto Gaels’s Women who in March made their debut visit to Galicia and won their first competitive tournament in Vigo 👏

Porto Women’s & Men’s teams were kindly invited by hosts, Keltoi Vigo, for the Fútbol Gaélico‘s international tournament ‘Reconquista de Vigo’ that, through a competitive environment, promotes friendship & Vigo’s most famous festival: ‘The Reconquista de Vigo’.

In addition to Keltoi and other Women’s & Men’s Galician teams, teams from Ulster, Brittany and Porto participated, with Porto.

Thanks to hosts Keltoi Vigo GAA and Galician GAA who’ve supported the the close relationship between their teams and GAA in Portugal since our formation, showing us what’s possible with community spirit and hard work. remain an inspiration and we look forward to future collaboration with our Northern-Neighbours 🙏

Chairman, Jon Burke, in the thick of it as always. 🙏🤞🏼💪☘️

Lisboa vestiu-se de verde e juntou-se às celebrações do Dia de São Patrício (St. Patrick‘s Day), a festa irlandesa dedicada ao santo padroeiro da Irlanda, um dos símbolos mais populares na Europa e no mundo.
O grande desfile de gaitas de foles decorreu esta tarde, 21/03, e juntou 600 músicos integrados em 13 bandas de gaitas de foles, 9 delas portuguesas.
A capital portuguesa faz parte do roteiro mundial das cidades que celebram o popular “St. Patrick’s Day”, festejado a 17 de março, data assinalada pelo mundo com música, desfiles e a tradicional cor verde.
