IAFA - Intercultural Association For ALL Associação para o incremento de projectos internacionais de mobilidade juvenil

-Conduct youth exchanges for intercultural learning and global education in European programs, through promoting international meetings, training activities and awareness about active citizenship, participative, and intercultural mobility, covering topics such as the environment, healthy living, good practices, social programs, cultural and recreational services.
-Promote intercultural and cooperation between people with different dynamic programs covering topics such as human rights, equal opportunities and promoting awareness of the need for voluntary collective solidarity, tolerance and social inclusion.
-Promote social inclusion among youngsters and adults with fewer opportunities, Social and Education needs, tolerance among youngsters and adults from different backgrounds.
-Give the possibility to young and adult people to be active in the society and community, exploiting their artistic, creative and leadership, through creating, promoting and supporting entrepreneurship and social, with recreational and social education projects, taking advantage of all the benefits that international mobility offers and make them available for everyone.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of one of our volunteers, on Tuesday, 29 September, in Barcelos.

She was part of the IAFA team and, above all, our friend. Her passing leaves an immense void. She will always be remembered in our daily lives as the bright, energetic young woman she was, and we are deeply grateful for everything she shared with us and with our community.

To her family and friends, we extend our deepest condolences and our full support. We also embrace her colleagues and everyone who knew her: we are, and will remain, by your side.

Another volunteering journey has come to an end. 💛✨

Our volunteer Mert Dağ, who joined us through our partnership with AGESDER, has completed his volunteering experience in Barcelos and received his Youthpass certificate. 🌍📜

Thank you, Mert, for your dedication, positive energy, and everything you contributed to our team and community during your time with us. We’re grateful for all the moments we shared and for having you as part of the IAFA family.

🏃 Semana Europeia do Desporto | Barcelos 2026

Barcelos associa-se à Semana Europeia do Desporto, a iniciativa da Comissão Europeia que convida todos a adotar um estilo de vida mais ativo e saudável. Sob o lema , são nove dias de programa por toda a cidade: aulas abertas de pilates, dança, hidroginástica e CrossFit, gincana de bicicleta, passeios de BTT, boccia e jogos tradicionais, ténis, HYROX, arborismo, basquetebol e voleibol de praia, rastreios de saúde, palestras e até uma cãominhada solidária — com dezenas de clubes, associações e projetos do concelho.

A IAFA vai estar lá com os nossos voluntários a ajudar! Venham ter connosco ao Largo da Porta Nova:

🩺 Rastreios de Saúde, pela ULS Barcelos/Esposende — gratuitos e sem inscrição.

🥋 Demonstrações de Artes Marciais — ParaKaraté, Jiu-Jítsu Brasileiro, Ninjútsu, Judo, Karaté, Taekwondo e muito mais. Participação livre.

🎤 Palestra "Ética no Desporto", com Jorge Machado, na Casa da Juventude — mediante inscrição prévia.

Today, our volunteers supported Casa da Juventude de Barcelos at the 4th Round of the Liga Boccia Sénior INATEL (Braga 2026), held at the Pavilhão Municipal de Barcelos as part of the European Week of Sport 2026. 🎯

Our team arrived early to help set up the boccia courts and support the event logistics before the activities began. Once everything was ready, they also had the chance to learn the rules, try boccia themselves, and play alongside the participants. For most of them, it was a first contact with the sport — and a great example of how volunteering can bring together local engagement, intercultural learning, and fun. 💛

Thank you to Casa da Juventude for the invitation and to the Município de Barcelos. It is always a pleasure for us to help.

The European Mobility Week in Barcelos has come to an end! 🚲🌍✨

Throughout the week, our volunteers were actively involved every day, supporting the traffic circuit activities, helping children learn more about road safety and sustainable mobility in a fun and practical way.

They also took on a very special role by bringing Simão, the mascot, to life and helping create an even more engaging atmosphere for the participants. 🧡

The week ended with a special children’s animation activity, where IAFA also joined in to help make the final day lively, educational, and full of good energy. 🙌

A big thank you to the Municipality of Barcelos and Casa da Juventude for the organization, for inviting us to be part of the initiative, and for giving us the opportunity to contribute throughout the week. It was a real pleasure for IAFA and our volunteers to help and take part in such a positive community activity. 💛

Our volunteers joined the Environmental Office of the Municipality of Barcelos for a clean-up activity along the river beach in Barcelos. 🌿♻️

Together, they collected litter, helped take care of the local environment, and learned more about the importance of protecting the natural spaces we all share.

It was a simple, practical, and very educational activity — and a great example of how small actions can make a real difference in the community. 💛🌍

Usually we’re the ones planning surprises. Today our volunteers and interns turned the tables. ☕🍰

Homemade cake, tea, and a table full of conversation — stories from home, what these months have taught us, plans for what comes next. Moments like this remind us why we do what we do: interculturality happens around a table, in the simple act of sharing with people who already feel at home.
